deposit refundable?

just in case my buyer falls through and i cant sell my audi TT i wanna know if the dealer by law is required to give me my deposit back? i thought i remembered seeing somewhere on this forum that it was....the dealer of course didnt say it wasnt refundable but i didnt ask either...i will know tomorrow if my buyer cant do it...he put a deposit down last friday and is just waiting on his buyer...he is waiting on the check from his buyer and should get it tomorrow if its legit

I ordered a 135i about 3 months ago, and decided to change my mind and was told that I could get my whole deposit back if the car hasn't went into production yet. But i am now ordering a 135 once again and was told that it is possible at anytime to get the deposit. I am having the same issue, worried i won't be able to find a dealer. Hope that helps.

thanks i think thats the thread i saw earlier hopefully i dont have to worry about it an tomorrow my buyer will get his check for his car and we are call good...thanks again

I custom ordered a 128i in August. I also put down a $1K 'deposit'

I talked with my dealer, and he said that deposits are refundable. However, when you custom order a car, the money you put down is not a deposit.. it is a custom order amount put towards the car. And this is not refundable.

Anyone have an experience with this? or know what this is about?
