Spring Installation Cost

How much are your local shops charging you for a spring install? I called one shop today and they were asking 400 w/o alignment. That's steep IMO. I had my 02 celica lowered a couple years back for 100 bucks. I guess i'll call some more shops and see what my options are. I just want to make sure i'm not getting over charged. 600-700 to lower a car is a lot.

I have been quoted anywhere from $900 to $1400 (SFO Bay area) for installation of coilovers and sway bars on my 135. Includes corner balance and F/R alignment.

I paid 900 for a full coilover install, alignment, and conner balance from TC Kline.

FYI... please install shocks if you going to put springs on your car.

FWIW, you might want to get a quote on a Honda Civic first, then ask about the 135 and make the deal on that. I believe they will hike up the prices because it's a BMW and the customer might not know how simple these installations are.

Anything over a couple hundred for springs/shocks/coilovers is too much IMO. I'm talking strictly install and not tune.

That's about twice what it costs in Germany from a high-end tuner. I'm quite sure they did a great job, but that price is way too high. Do they give you a second alignment for free? Usually it's best to have it checked again a few weeks later after everything has settled. My dealer does. And his equipment is laser state-of-the-art. It takes a damn scientist to read the printout alignment specs.

yeah, there are installations and there are installations. from what i read there is a bit of feel-based installing going on out there which is rather scary considering the incredible technology in patch geometry!

We charge $240 (no alignment included).

We did our 1er with H&R Race Springs, took me less than 2hrs.
