Replace door panels?
Hi all - for those that are tracking their 1 series and have removed the interior, what have you used to replace the factory door handle with (assuming the door card/door panel is removed)?
Just need to open/close the door. Thanks! |

Project Carbon UK can take care of you, they make front and rear door cards. Jake Spence is the owner of the car in the photos. He also did a video installing them if you want a closer look.

Thank you. Yes, I've seen his video and his carbon fiber panels. I was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative; more DIY...like zip ties.

You can make your own panels for cheap using aluminum sheets. And just screw them on with metal screws, don't zip tie them on..

Thank you. Are there alternate handles available to open/close the door? The factory handle is riveted to the door panel. With an aluminum sheet, how would you actuate the door handle?

Ended up taking the cable out of the factory handle and using an adel clamp to attach it to the door. Then attached a pull strap (previously a dog leash!) to the cable to open the door. Works well.

Working door pull. Cable is held in with an adel clamp and bolted to the door.
