Question Is there a body seam in the door jam...?

Just looked at a 1-series coupe.

Is there supposed to be a body seam in the door jam?

Basically right after the door jam trim / sill cover.

If so, would anyone be able to show me what theirs looks like?

I canít say I have seen this before on a BMW but maybe I just never noticed it.

Like this....

.... that big seam running behind the door sill trim.

Is that how the side skirts attach? Or is that a seam that is supposed to be welded, or what?

I think that is the actual side skirt? Right? Anybody that's ever replaced the sill or messed with side skirts.

I didnít have a whole lot of time to look at the car. But I have been trying to find different angles via photos found on the web. Yes, I think thatís the edge of the side skirt. Hard to tell, but I think so.

Yes, it is how the car is. It seems a bit exaggerated, but there is a seam there where the side skirt runs up.

The side skirts are plastic forms... the sills are metal.
