Hey all, I just picked up a 135is, apparently number 475.

Wondering whether an MHD stage 1 tune is even worth it with these. Since it requires a bench flash, and doesn't look like it actually raises power much over the stock BMW tune. I do realize that the datalogging capabilities are a bonus as well. At the moment I'm keeping the mechanicals stock except for changing out the charge pipe soon. Sometime in the future I might do IC, DP, and tune, and then it would be worth it.

Has anyone with a 135is done just the stage 1 tune and thought it was worth the money?

I have a regular N55 135i that didn’t need a bench flash, but the linear throttle map may be the best part of an MHD tune. Also, MHD is rather conservative and designed for Germans on the bahn, so keep in mind that stage 1+ is probably fine on your stock car on the street, unless you maybe live in Arizona and are doing lots of successive pulls, but don’t take my word for it. Caveat emptor.

135is guys still need a bench flash for MHD, right? Build date after around 03/2012. Or has that changed recently? I don't keep up with the latest MHD stuff.

Yep. I just meant the above was easy for me to say, since I didn’t need the bench flash.

Anyone have a part # and source for the shadowline trim? My driver door trim was sticking up a good 3-4 inches at the back when I got home last night. I need to replace it but can't find the part #. Thx

I haven't posted here in a while now but...

I test fitted a BMW Performance Front Bumper on my car. The bumper is still unpainted so I wont post any pics. Of course, I also fitted the appropriate air ducts for the brakes and the passenger side oil cooler. [In total, there are 2 brake ducts in the outer edges of the center grille and the passenger side 2-piece duct for the oil cooler.]

Unfortunately, the PPK2 extra radiator on driver side has a duct to help funnel air in. This funneling duct needs to be removed (without any replacements) to fit the bumper along with the appropriate air duct (that's connecting to the bumper). I will try to post pictures.

I know and am sure the bumper 100% fits.

Also, I got M3 Cluster that works except for the shift lights and the cruise control sliding dot.

Only 135is with aero bumper?
Not sure why the 135is didn't come with the full aero package even if they charged 1k more. I think it would have been worth it!

+1. Oddly enough, though, I think the sharper lines of the 135's regular M-Sport front bumper looks more aggressive and sporty than the actual performance version.

Was it ever concluded whether that tii was an actual offering?

Rats, the grills on that thing as well as the carbon fiber hood with the little aero pieces on the side of the hood were interesting. As was the extended Alcantara interior.

Would have been fun.

I thought at least someone else would have this bumper. I am making something custom from currently existing parts about the left air duct.

As for the aesthetics, I think the m sport and the BMWP bumper are just about even. It is a matter of preference at this point. I personally wanted the BMWP bumper for the very solid look.

I think the 135is should have been a full BMW Performance car without the seats.

Those seats were in a league of their own. I don't think anyone can top the BMWP seats!

The performance suspension with an LSD would have really changed the game, had those been included in the 135is.

Yeah those seats are glorious! I left them out because that seemed like I was asking for too much.

One more thing I hoped was for BMW to at least offer sunroof delete simply for the head room.

Another update! I did the M3 cowl mod today. I was able to source a cheap complete set of the m3 cowl a few weeks ago. The weather strip came in today.

I took off the stock cowl and that thing is HEAVY AF. I thought it was just a simple plastic piece but it is not. I mounted on the m3 cowl. It took a bit of fenageling but it slotted right in. It sits nicely in the engine bay.

Now the snags...my windshield washers are now popped out of the hood. Noticeable and annoying will find a solution either sanding down the m3 cowl at those contact points or finding a different washer nozzles.

The second snag is the hood latch sensor. It took a bit of creativity but I solved the problem. I stuck a block of rubber on my hood so that it pushes against the sensor when closed.

Now, for my driving impressions. Well, I really expected nothing much from this mod. I thought it was just for better cosmetics and better engine bay access. However, I was wrong. It changed two things. Bad news is the car is now a bit quieter inside the cabin. This is from the old cowl creating a resonating effect as it retains the sound waves longer. This also meant less cabin vibrations. On the brighter side, I can hear the "whoosh"-ing of the turbo better.

Also, it apparently helps the car run cooler. I'll find out tomorrow or something.

Someone actually had a set of brand new mud flaps for sale earlier this month. I replied to the post but the bastard must have sold them to someone else, as they never replied to me. And the FS thread was stricken and has been slowly falling into obscurity.

I'm actually surprised more people didn't reply to that thread to begin with. Oh Well.

Head Unit

Just wondering if anyone has installed an aftermarket(E.Bay/Ali Ex) android head unit in a IS/M Edition ?
I'm a bit confused as to which one fits, my center console seems narrower than
most that are listed as a "fit"
Does anybody have a link to one that they have fitted ?

Thanks

Took my 135is convertible out of deep winter hibernation on Monday and drove it 155 miles to the big city, where I have driven it quite a bit yesterday and today it goes in for annual service.

It is a way more engaging and fun to drive car than my pedigreed M2 which has become essentially my DD. Both are manuals and the 2018 M2 is certainly more advanced electronically, but the 135is is a drivers car and the M2 is not anywhere as connected or fun to drive.

Both are 6MTs.
