N55 valve cover gasket
Car has 64k miles, no leaks as of today.
Just trying to see when others have replaced their valve cover gasket. I have yet to find any information regarding this. Any info helps. Thanks! |

Had to do mine at 108,000. If it's not leaking, don't touch it, don't look at it, don't say anything that might anger it.

I'm at 61K and starting to get the smoke smell inside my car while driving and idle. I'm suspecting my valve cover gasket but couldn't rule out the Valve cover now that I'm reading more on this.

Just got mine at 45K, PPI found small leak and estimated for VCG. Turned out to be Valvetronic Motor Gasket ($55 incl labor). I do still have a burned-oil smell in the cabin, turned out PO complained about it to her dealer too, who then did OHFG, oil pan & gasket, transmission side cover & oil sump. 2 yrs and just 700 miles later, it still has burnt-oil smell and I'm still hoping to track it down.

If your N55 was affected by the VANOS recall, it would've had a valve cover gasket done at the same time. Most N55s of our era were affected, I believe
