oh, and just wanted to say, I was in Leipzig on Thursday and Friday for aftersales training on the new Mini R58. We had to eat lunch in the factory, and on Friday an M1 chassis rolled on by above us eating( still non painted), and on the way home passed a semi with 2 white euro models on it heading away from the plant. So I saw 3 more on their way to a new home! as well as a VO with 9000km and winter tires/wheels next to an Active E in the entrance of the plant on display.

Beautiful job Mike...you have one lucky customer that has a "hands-on" salesman...
when I get my 1M, perhaps we can talk about some mods also. Rick |

Nice work Mike, on the 1M "project car". I am enjoying each installment of photos and insight - as I think we all are.

I think its the same reason why some euro car makers name certain models over here the: Arizona, or Montana, or California, all USA names. The "grass is always greener on the other side"... and we want what we can not have. So... lots of companies in the states come up with euro sounding products and euro named companies. Even though they have nothing to do with the EU or DE markets. |

Wow what a piece of junk.... just kidding. This is absolutely amazing work you're doing here.
I love how you're going through parts of the process. I thought the stock version was amazing, I'd love to see the outcome of this car. If only I were in Germany to see the final product. It'll probably turn out better than the tuner companies... perhaps you should start your own? haha Hrmm... if someone handed their car over to you for tuning... haha Amazing job so far and I'm looking forward to future updates, nice work. |

Other than introducing a "bottleneck" intercooler which is rather dysfunctional, project seems kinda cool...I'm digging the exhaust.

I do not see the Swift spring coupler between the main and the helper spring, did you forget to install them? I can't really tell from the photo, just look they are not lining up. The rear Swift spring is also not of the correct static length to really take advantage of the helpers...looks like you are using a 9" spring. Make sure they are 60mm as well.

not that I know so much about tuning turbo cars, but I am under the impression the "bottleneck" isn't really going to hurt the cars performance. to me it seems it would possibly slow the air in the intercooler a very minimal amount (better cooling)- and the charge pipes from the factory everywhere else are 2.5", plus the added size of the intercooler? just my thoughts. question. are these sleeves on the struts, or are they just machined that much thicker-- it is what I'm missing. found this pic somewhere. Mike, that's a great project. I've been a fan of your E30 for years, I remember seeing photos of it on S14.net when it was still it's darker color.

Better FMIC helps so does the ER CP you put on the car. The AFE intake is worth some power too at elevated boost levels. The sleeves adapts the 135/335 style strut to the 1M and M3. You will need them. The setup you have may have less travel than normal kits, as it is meant for Grand Am cars. |
