Should I worry about mileage? (Track build)
So I bought a Z3 about a yr ago and although it has been entertaining, it doesn't have the aftermarket support I'm looking for. I've stubbled across the 128 and am very interested in building a purpose built track car. Due to back issues it will be an AT and my question is should I be concerned with mileage? I've found a few very clean sub 80k miles for mid teens but I've also found quite a few 120k+ cars in the 7-9k range. Considering a lot of parts would be changed either way does it make sense to buy the better condition car?

Check for leaks. A good car owner isn't going to have oil leaks. Check VCG, OFHG, and oil pan. If it needs O2 sensors or any sensors for that matter, it's a red flag. Basically any low level maintenance that hasn't been done means you're looking at a red flag car. I have a 137k 128i and it's a dream and it's been well maintained. But it's 12 years old. Maintenance is an ongoing thing. I'm in an AT 1er and I'm tracking it this summer. Don't listen to anyone who hates on you for the AT. Most those ppl have never put rubber down on a track. Peace! |
