VRSF Downpipes - RHD N54 Review

I just had the VRSF Downpipes fitted to my Right Hand Drive 135i. They were one of the few that were listed as fitting RHD without the need to relocate the O2 sensors or any other modification. They were literally bolt on. The mechanic was impressed with the fact that they line up perfectly with the factory pipework and Turbo Charges. I haven't experienced any knocking or vibration. I was hoping for a little more noise out of the back end, but I can't really notice any change in the note. Looks like I will be investing in a cat back system and maybe some midpipes at a later date. The only thing that I haven't seen mentioned before is the Downpipe to Turbo's gaskets. I assume since nobody has mentioned them before that everyone just re-uses theirs. I made the choice to replace them, since its a pita to have to pull it all back off if there is a leak. Had I know about these prior to putting it in to have them fitted, I would have ordered them for $15 each from the states as opposed to paying $85each to get them from an Australian Stealership. I paid for the convenience of them being ordered at 4pm and being here the next day.

All in all, very happy with the product, especially for the price.

Damn it. I completely forgot about you guys. I checked the invoice. The gasket charge was $65 odd each expressed. (They quoted me $85, I feel special now)

That's what happens when you are in a hurry and don't stop long enough to think. I needed the car back the next day.

What Midpipes, and Muffler do you recommend out of curiosity? One that doesn't have that weird raspy BMW/Hyundai Excel noise.

BMW performance exhaust. I prefer to keep the midpipe cats in the N54.

The PE replaces the resonator just after the midpipe cats with a Y-pipe, which then links to the axleback.

I'm running AR catless DPs with the BMW PE and the sound is phenomenal. No drone, just a high pitched, slightly raspy noise on full throttle. It's also quite loud.

about 25s

Ask Stu about that, I've honestly forgotten since I ordered it with a bunch of other things. It was probably north of 1k.

That'd be the HKS SSQV3 for maximum ricer spec.

Yep, you won't get performance increases without a tune (catless DPs should net around 10-15kwatw) and you might have codes appear. Honestly, a tune should be the first thing on your mod list before you do anything else.

http://www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-3-stain...-bmw-135i.html

shipping to Oz - got 3 options;

1) United Parcel Service
-Worldwide Express Saver $287.71

2) United States Postal Service
-Priority Mail International $91.65

3) United States Postal Service
-Priority Mail Express International $120.15

Pretty cheap in my book, considering the size and weight of it. :thump:

Considering the ER ones locally are like ~$800, you will be a fair bit in front, spend a little more and get the intercooler from them while you are at it!

I've got their 3" DP's and 7" FMIC - I couldn't be happier. Tiago has been a pleasure to deal with.

Damn that's under $400 delivered for a DP (N55).

I am still unsure about running full catless though since I have a N55...
