I'm guessing the only reason they didn't call it Logic7 on the 1 series was the lack of center channel, and HK doesn't make Logic6
Still, they could have referred to it as an L7 system with a phantom center channel.

And I'm not saying you contested me on everything I said, but for some odd reason, (other) people are still not convinced of the existence of the subs in the base hifi system.

As for the 104dB, it must be a mistake, the premium system has 40% more power, how could it possibly not produce a single dB increase in sound pressure over base hifi.
Yes, it's one of the possibilities that the numbers are wrong.

I offered one explanation as to why the spl could be quite close.
Yes, there is more power in the premium system, but if the pdf is correct, the subs in the premium setup at 4ohm, and 2ohm in the base system.
With half the impedance the same amp power is pushed easier to the 2ohm, and that results in more spl. Bass and sub bass are a big part of overall volume. And, both systems use the same number of drivers.

The L7 system is very different than the premium setup. It uses different amps, different drivers, etc... Yes, the premium may be using the same or similar Logic7 chip, but the overall systems are different.
That's why I say the 1 series "premium hi-fi" is not the "logic 7" system in the 3 series. It should simply have been called "premium hi-fi with L7 DSP".

Yeah, I don't understand why people think the base system doesn't have the subs. Maybe it's because the description for the premium states that it has 2 subs, and people think since it's an "upgrade", that must mean that the premium ADDS subs.
Also, maybe they assume that the Euro "base" system is the US base system. The Euro base system, per referenced PDF, shows that there are 160mm bass drivers, which are smaller than the 217mm subs in the US base and premium.

Logic7 is a Lexicon product that is licensed. HK doesn't make Logic 7. They make systems that use Logic 7. It's like "Dolby". It's Dolby's product, they just license it to system makers.

Yes, the premium system uses L7 processing, that was not in question.
The issue is that the SYSTEM in the 1 and the 3 are not the same.

Actually, Harman owns HK and Lexicon. I just call them one and the same. Makes things easier.

I see. Makes sense now.
Thanks.

You're comment prompted me to look up when Harman acquired Lexicon.
I remember Lexicon from the 80's with their excellent audio production gear.
HK was more of a quality home playback brand.
Harman (HK) has become HUGE. They even own Levinson!
Makes me wonder why the HK audio systems in BMW's suck so bad.

Really, Logic7 is made by Lexicon? I didn't know that.

Does this mean I can use this in my car to control the radio?
