sliiiiick's track-focused 135i

Hey All,

I have been an active member of the forums for a while. I don't post much but spend TONS of time on here doing research, getting ideas, and gathering knowledge.
Now I feel like it's my turn to contribute.

I was the previous owner of a 2008 4 door white 335i which was FBO running meth injection and absolutely loved the n54 engine. I had to let it go before starting to build a family and got a dad-mobile instead. Two kids and many anxious years later, I was ready to get back into the BMW family. This time, I was ready to build something 100% track-focused.

In August 2017, I picked up a 2011 white 135i manual with 66k miles

First things first, the car was leaking oil and coolant
Diagnosed the issues and I replaced both oil filter housing gaskets and the stock radiator... back in business
I also painted the wheels black and calipers yellow to spice things up a little bit

Next it was time for the engine to breathe better and show me the true performance capabilities of the car
COBB Accessport
VRSF Downpipe
VRSF Intercooler
Burger Tuning Intake
Chargepipe with custom tap for boost gauge

NOW, it was time to see what this baby can do!!!
December 2017 HPDE Event at Palm Beach International Raceway

Some BMW love

Quickly I realized that I needed better brakes and tires
Upgraded to Federal 595 RSRR 225/40/18 Front and 255/35/18 Rear
ECS stainless steel brake lines
Stoptech slotted front rotors
Hawk DTC-6 pads
Motul 600 fluid

March 2018 HPDE Event at Miami Homestead Speedway

Some BMW love

ANDDD the clutch was now slipping badly
I decided to get Spec stage 2+ clutch and MFactory single mass lightweight flywheel. Knocked out the install in 10 hours. Surprisingly the SMLF is not loud at all.

May 2018 PCA HPDE Event at Sebring

Some Porsche love

For those who know, it's entirely too hot to track in the summer so we take time off to mod

After running an aggressive track like Sebring, I was experiencing a crazy amount of understeer so I knew I had to upgrade my suspension/camber settings to try and resolve the problem. I also wanted to try and run wider front tires but with the restrictions of the front fenders, I knew it wasn't looking good.

Until I decided to do a 1M front conversion
After following the threads of TUN3D and berns, I decided to pull the trigger.
Instead of painting the new parts, I also decided to wrap the car based on the inspiration of acoustix

Let the fun begin...

I started wrapping the car while I was waiting for the parts to arrive from Germany

Decided to cut the hood and insert a hood vent
This part was designed by Trackspec for the E9X M3 but the measurements fit perfectly

AST 4100 Suspension
Front 448 lb/in 150 mm main spring plus 80mm helper
Rear 728 lb/in 250 mm
Vorshlag camber plates
Powerflex black rear subframe bushings
M3 upper and lower front control arms

My oil temps were consistently running 260-270F and knew I need to cool the oil down if I were going to maintain longevity on the track. I ended up buying the HEL oil cooler kit on Ebay for $450 which comes with a 25 row Setrab core, braided lines and AN fittings. FYI, it doesn't come with an adapter plate or mounting brackets. I purchased the Stett adapter plate and fabricated my own mounting brakets

Last to arrive was a new set of wheels and tires for the upcoming fall season
APEX Arc-8 18x9.5 et22 front et58 rear
Toyo Proxes RR 275/35/18 square

ALL FINISHED!!!!

I hope you enjoyed the transformation, I certainly did.
I have an appointment next week to get the car corner balanced, ride height adjusted, and a proper alignment.

Let me know if you would like any additional information on anything I've done.

Thanks for looking,
Evan
