I think you should be able to play using just the iPhone to USB so just your iPhone cable not the Y cable.

So try that but if you plug that in and you don't have an option to select USB or IPod then it might be something wrong with your head unit or the combox.

If you have 11/10 build Gangplank is correct, unless the USB connection has failed. Use a original Apple cable for best performance and results.

I will try that.
I have an Iphone 6.

I wonder if that makes a difference?

The odd thing is I have no icon for USB only Tuner, Satellite, CD, and AUX.

I am thinking there is a problem with the head unit itself. I am not able to load a CD into the head unit. When I select CD it says CD Error.

I used an Apple cord and plugged my Iphone 6 into the USB port under my armrest. The phone played music but no audio came through on the radio. I had the radio on AUX as there is no USB icon.

I took it to the dealer.
They tell me it is the TCU (Telematics Control Unit)
It is $1100 for a new one installed.

Sounds like you would be better suited investing in an aftermarket headunit. Much, much cheaper and it should add bluetooth and other goodies for you as well.

The dealer says the telematics unit is bad. I wonder if I purchase a used one that works if i could switch them out or does the TCU need to be coded?

Did you consider the Bluetooth unit I mentioned on the first page of this thread? That may be an easy and cheap work around, plus you’ll get to use your telephone for calls.
