The ONLY way is to wait until the dealer has 2 cars with and without the $875 Premium Hi-Fi. Take a few personal favorite CD's and do a test. That is what I will do. It MUST sound much better or no way I am spending $875 for a little added sound.

I wonder if the HD Radio is worth it.
I am not paying $13 a month for Sirius or XM Satallite radio even though its nice to have.
I think adding all 4 audio options is WAY TOO expensive.

I've driven a few loaners and UDSK cars with HDRadio, and it does improve the sound quality of radio stations noticeably. If you listen to regular terrestrial radio a lot, it may be worth it to you.

Note that it is susceptible to dropouts like satellite radio, but rather than losing signal completely, is just degrades to "regular" radio.

I'm getting it, as I've heard that you can't retrofit HDRadio.

I have the premium stereo option. According to a private message, if I have a menu with 7 channel eq, I have logic7. I definitely have that menu, but I still cant say its logic7 with 100% certainty. All I know is it sounds great, and the hdradio/ipod integration works fantastic.

^^ Good to know. Logic 7 or not, I just hope it sounds at least as good as the factory upgraded Bose system in my Audi...which is very good for OEM (very clean & crisp sound).

Forgot about those - I sat in one but didn't turn on the radio. Seems like B&O is more focused on design than sound. Their cd ripping stereo uses lossy MP3 encoding... ouch.

I was under the impression it was a different stereo, but its just two DSP modes that no one will use.

Now the question is what type of speakers are they? I don't think the hifi uses paper cones like the base does.

I use the DSP modes now in my e90..

Sirius isn't that great sounding, but the programming is good, so I use the concert hall spacial mode.

Well, if this turns out to be true on mine then 2 things:

1) my dealer, and whoever he contacted at the PDC, is misinformed.
2) I am so glad he is.

Wow. All these longstanding mysteries that have been solved over the last couple of days are pretty disconcerting to an addict.

NOW what will I obsess over?! Actual driving?! Bah.

Thanks for checking, TP_135i. :drinking:

I hope you are right. At any rate, I would still get the upgrade even if it wasn't Logic 7 as I don't want to go aftermarket even if I know that they can be potentially better sounding. Can't wait for reviews on the audio system.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but "Logic 7" just means DSP modes that most of the time will be off. So the question "is it a logic 7 stereo" should read "Does the hifi stereo include the Logic 7 brand DSP modes".

Which then leads to the question, "what are the upgrades to the stereo with the hifi option" since it is not the HK branded stereo, and also what is the difference between HiFi and HK?

I got confirmation on the premium stereo for non-nav today on the ride home from work, if you select a DSP mode it shows logic 7, here is an iphone cam snap. I'm so glad I opted for the premium sound.

Interesting...BMW's website is back to listing "Premium hi-fi System", Logic 7 is no longer mentioned. I wonder what I will end up with on my 1?
