I'm not sure what you mean by that? You don't need cash to buy a car, you just finance the whole price of the car instead of just leasing it monthly.

You can finance a car for a longer period, is all. So, the payments are extended over a longer time frame making the payments lower. The fact that the 135i is a horrible lease, it may in fact be better to to buy it and sell it when you want.

Mileage won't matter at this point because you own the car.

Well yes thats true, 15 basis points is typical bump that many can expect to see from dealership so the finance guy can make some extra income

Numb3rs It is true everything that you have said but I am the typical lease type person. I like the thought of a new car every 3 years and not having to worry about long term care of a car. The only thing I am worried about is the possibility that I may like my 135i too much and have to lease a car in 3 years which wont be as "fun" as it.

I understand your point about the 135i not being a big deal in 3 years, could possibly happen but it’s still a BMW. And according to your optioned price tag you will be around ~$20K from owning the car in 3 years which I believe would sell for at least $25K and if you don’t believe me check the numbers on a used 330ci and you will see what I mean. Besides, having a great performing car is something, but having a connection with the car is something else. And if history could teach us anything is that the older e30, e36, e46 M3s are preferred to own over the all new mighty big M3 and most of us seek the 135i cuz of its resemblance to the e30, e36 M3s. So what’s to say there will be a new 1er coupe to begin with? Maybe a hatch again for Europe (just cuz of the 4 door) but might not be another coupe it all depends on the sales right? And if there is it will have more power but it will be bigger I assure you that.

IMO I believe to own the car especially if it is a special car as the 135i, and if after owning it for 3+ years you feel that there is another car that you will enjoy you could always trade in.
I am working deals on 335i's with less than a $1000 over invoice ($49K 335i for $45K) and fighting on the MF I am getting low to mid $700 including tax of 6%. So a fully loaded 3 series would be as much as my fully loaded 1 series. $690 is believable, but not including tax (I have to pay it in the payment in my state).

That is also on a basis of numbers that aren't really proven for the 1. So that 330i will sell like that. That isn't any kind of guarantee. I hate trading in a car, because as we all know, you'll never get the fair market value as you wanted. I like the idea of rolling up one day, dropping it off, and driving off in something else. Buying for some people is an honor so they can keep their 135 for the next 20 years....I don't want that. In 3 years I will want something else, and not want the hassle.

Also keep in mind that supply will be somewhat limited, which will only improve resale value. Othere's have posted that only 10,000 units will come over compared to the 30,000 originally planned due to the poor exchange rates.

well first we wanted to ED the 335 and 135 at the same time, but ended up needing the 335 much sooner. sticker off the lot on the 335 was 49k and we got it for 45.5k (ED woulda been 43.5K).

The dealer told me today:

All terms are for 10,000 miles per year with $3500 out of pocket
Money Factor - .00280 ( = 6.72%)

36 months residual 61%
Base Payment = 584.54 + tax
30 months residual 67%
Base Payment = 589.50 + tax
24 months residual 74%
Base Payment = 576.61 + tax

I don't want to put 3500 down, so I will finance. I have no prior car buying credit, but a decent credit score so BMW would likely need a down payment. Oh well, USAA is 4.99% and I will likely keep it through warranty and into a second warranty. If I kept my 95 regal for seven years and liked it, I will probably love my 135i too much to ever part with.

yea 508 would be good on a 12K, 36 months and fees only down. my fully loaded G (44,000) cost me 530/month, 12K, 39 months and 1,700 down. :iono:

Now in my opinion, BMW's suck at leasing, period.

yes Larry but realistically those deals work out when final to be almost $100 more a month then stated there unless you have a customer that just lays down and takes it!

YOu can get LEMON in the 135i,,,,,,,omg I gotta see a black/lemon/Al. one !!!!!!!!

And those leases arnt too far off a 335i. I wonder if you could get the same deal or better on a left on the lot 335i Vs. a 135i.

My car was about $49k,,, Leased out at $47k,,,$3.7k down and with taxxxes came to $645. 3/36 12k a year.
