SES light after a deer hit

Hi,

Last Thursday someone hit a deer and left it in the middle line on a dark street.
So, I ran over it.

It didn't do much damage to the front bumper, but it will probably need to be replaced.

My concern is the SES light came after that night in the morning (Friday). The car started to shake and loud muffler noise and lost of acceleration. There is a lot of hair and blood under the car.

Last Friday I did a comprehensive claim. Do you think the SES is due to the deer going under - I hope is?

Took it Monday to the auto shop and the insurance has not checked the car yet.

Thanks,

If you can pull the codes you'll know exactly what's causing it. If I had to guess I'd say something to do with O2 sensor wiring, but with the noise and shaking you may have ripped the exhaust apart somewhere.

You got some part right. It was the shield, the catalytic converter, and exhaust replacement. So I feel good that the insurance is paying that.

However, they are trying to "fix" or not to pay for the bumper. The hole in the bumper instead of replacing it. Can the insurance do that? They are saying it looks like previous damage. Wondering if that bumper is fiberglass, so it is fixable?

A good shop that knows how to weld plastic can fix that. If they try and it's no good, raise hell with the insurance company. Also, be sure to inspect the work on the exhaust before they put the underbody panels on.

So, as of last week after replacing the exhaust still, 9 codes and must of them Combustion Misfires, in Cylinders. So the insurance granted to replace the O2 Censors at the Catalytic converter.

The shop called and told me yesterday they had one 1 still and the car is still running rough idle.
1.29D0 DME Combustion Misfires, Cylinder 4.

So, the shop called me today and told me they give up and cannot fix that. Really ?

The shop was going to report to the insurance, so what are my options?
Thinking if the insurance calls to say: let's take it to the dealer for them to fix. Believe all of that cylinder misfire was caused by the deer. Probably they should replace the Catalytic Converter.
