where is my oil filter housing heat exchanger?
08 128 6MT w/Sp pkg. Real oem shows a heat exchanger on my car but its not there. I've seen them on other cars but not mine. PN 11 42 7 525 333. It is a USA car btw.

Think this only came on some of the non- U.S. model cars. Seem to remember comments about them from Australia/ South Africa. Looks like something that would be nice to have. Cooling function as well as quicker oil warmup due to coolant hookup. Looked at it briefly but it involves some new parts, oil filter housing, the exchanger and plumbing into the cooling system so didn't feel it was worth the expense for our climate. A little info. on it on pg. 119-29 of Bentley's E90 Service manual.

Only present on the N52's fitted to heavier cars (in the US, that is) such as the X3, X5, and (I think) the 5-series. I retrofitted one onto my car...

I recently installed one on my car as well. The housing I picked up on eBay for cheap originally came off of an x5 I believe.
