5° cold start

S/E Michigan gets pretty cold but rarely this cold. All last winter and days leading up to today it's been high 10s to low 30s. Cold starts are always quick, loud and sound amazing.

Today it was a cold 5° when I left for work. Started my car and it was quiet as hell.. almost like it was at full temp. No weird idle or misfires. Didn't have that loud cold start like it usually does. It definitely shocked me.

Anyone have a 1 series in cold weather and have experienced this before? Got about 3 more months of winter and I don't think I could start the car if it gets any colder.

Same, and I'm tuned, etc.

It just is what it is. I'm not concerned about it enough to dig into the tune to see why.

6F here this morning with windchills at -10F. Started slower than usual with a slight tick for a moment, until the oil circulated. If this were to become the norm around here, I'd have to invest in a block heater.

Same here. First 30 years of my life wasted in NJ. Screw that noise. Low of 53 tonight here in the Lone Star state. Summer tires all year, and I don't even own an ice scraper anymore!

Had a guy move back here after 3 years or more in Los Angeles. NEVER had to add windshield washer fluid. Here, we can go thru almost a whole gallon in a week or two.

It's a piece of plastic that's not really sharp enough to scrape ice, but sharp enough to damage the rubber trim at the bottom of your side windows.
