Installed 1M Rep bumper with 1M ducts

Installed my 1M rep bumper today with a set of 1M ducts replacing the fog lights. Feel free to ask questions and I'll answer best as I can.

Process and massive thanks to 714_1er and his install thread!

Looks great. Did you cut out the fog lights that come in the bumper (I thought almost all the aftermarket 1M-style bumpers had them)?

Yup, before paint- spent about an hour all told, with a jig saw first to quickly & easily get the big areas cut out, then a dremel tool to clean up & fine tune.

Awesome work man! Those ducts look great, I'll be ordering mine shortly. Just need to get the motivation to pull the bumper off again lol. How was the install process for the 1M ducts? Did you follow those threads?

I did, the how-to I followed is linked in the first post. I've got a photobucket hotlink extension that makes the pics work again

Was pretty easy actually- I was surprised. Four hours from on the ramps to off again, and I spent an hour of that farting around with other non-car stuff, so really three hours actual work time. If I were to do it again, probably only take 1.5 or 2 hours.

Pass side is easy bolt in swap.

Pulling the brackets for the hl washers and horns was straight forward. Sharp drill bit is your friend for rivets, even plastic ones. I did try to just knock out the plastic retainer pins, but they weren't having it so after just a few moments they got the drill...

Horns went right in the holes at the end of the bumper, and wiring is already on the passenger side- they actually just ran an extension over to the drivers side for the horn. Just remove that extension and you're all set- pretty darn handy.

I've had my HL washers deactivated since I got the car, so was happy to pull em out. Disconnected the line at the connection by the passenger side headlight.

Used the bolt with 4 nuts to act as spacer/alignment. Probably spent the most time getting this right. There is a pic showing this in the first post. Two nuts hold the duct in place, and two hold the bolt to the frame. No bolt specs, was just pulled from my leftover bolt bucket.

And I'm totally tickled with how it came out. I'm pondering what to do, if anything, about the small gaps to the fender liners and on the outer edges where duct meets bumper. May not do anything- they really don't bother me at the moment, and are small enough that you don't see em unless you're at just the right angle.

Thanks!

I have no idea who actually made the bumper- it's a random imported knock-off from ebay. Link is below, tho it's no longer active you can at least get an idea to compare against... I was surprisingly pleased with the quality.

I've got a name... Still a random import knock off, but here ya go- So, the ebay listing said the manufacturer was "Good Go" which I giggled at, but sure enough that's the company name! And I have pics to prove it..., well, at least that's the name on the box and plastic wrapper...

Very pleased with the rep bumper. Many runs to 100+ for short periods, many many many cruises at 80+, all with no issues. Nothing flapping around, nothing rattling, nothing falling off.

Love the look.

Only thing, and I'm reaching here..., in cold temps the oil temp takes even longer to come up- this is expected due to that big 'ol air duct flowing up to the oil cooler. Yeah, not really an issue, but figured I should find some bad(ish...) thing to report

Wheel spacers added :P
Dinan camber plates in the front, and the Indy 500's run narrow- This combination resulted in running 15mm spacers in the front and 10mm in the rear due to the extra camber in the front. Basic "normal" for stock suspension is to run 10mm f & 15 rear.

I also plan to increase tread width all around in the future, currently stock dimensions.
