I use my armrest every time I drive. Hmm....and you seriously need to pony up the dough and buy some OEM rubber mats. Those rubber Walmart ones look like absolute sh1t.

I'm resurrecting this thread! I bought the cover today. Can't wait to get rid of that armrest. It gets in my way when I shift as I'm 6'3".
I remember when I had an old E36 318 as a loaner. It didn't have an armrest and I liked it. |

I'm 6-1 and I always have the armrest tilted up 'cause it bugs the hell out of me.

If the arm rest is in the way shifting, try raising the seat. I'm 6'2" with long, 36 inch sleeve length, arms and I like the arm rest. But I don't have the seat all the way down either. And I don't have it leaned WAY back. Seems like the arm rest being in the wrong position is an indicator of a seat height or angle issue. But to each his own.... I also have BMW floor mats and no water or grease on my seat - at least most of the time.

I deleted my armrest. Made the car a lot quieter and shed a few lbs. The armrest is actually quite heavy.

OP how did you remove your arm rest? I can remove the entire assembly but don't think that is ideal as there are some wire that snap on to it. Can you remove the arm rest and hinges for it only?

I just removed the armrest in my car as well. I installed the fill piece underneath the cover to secure the centre console to the floor. It took some pulling and bending of the plastic, but it all came together nicely.
Cheers, Bryan

Mine's in the basement. The finisher 'end cover' is a $15 dealer item. Minimalism rules. Or just get a 840i vert...

Just LOVE the AR delete, more should do it. Clearly it's the 'interior' equivalent of the CDV delete IMO.

Here are a few more shots after adding the Koomus CD phone cradle and going completely wireless with a hidden charger when the iPhone 7 battery gets low. All the input connections are plugged in, but fully hidden away under the center console so no wires are showing.

Went on realoem and found you need part 51167135455 - Console Insert, rear for the cover plate to anchor in (Part 14 on the diagram). Otherwise the cover just kind of floats and gets pushed out by the carpet. Happy with the mod. Looks clean and the squeaking is gone! |
