135is Ceramic Brake Pads

The 135is has gorgeous wheels and big BMW logo calipers, but you can never see them because one day after washing they are a dull rust color.

I would love to install ceramic pads, but they do not appear to be available for the 135is.

I installed cool carbon pads hoping they'd be better but no difference.

Does anyone know of a source for ceramic pads for the 135is?

I have a 2013 135is coupe.

Yeah, thanks guys...I think I will just order a set and try them.

On other sites that have the 135is chassis option (ECS does not), it claims they don't fit.

I called ECS tuning yesterday and the tech walked me through their inventory. He claimed there were no ceramic pads for this car.

I haven't been able to determine whether the 135is has the same calipers and pads as the 135i. I guess now we'll see. I'll let you know how it turns out...

Do you have these on your car? I'm thinking there may not be much difference between a 135is and a 135 M Sport.

135i and 135is have the exact same brakes.

Well that is encouraging, thanks. Order has shipped. Anxious to make the swap.

Subbed

I’m also unimpressed with the excessive dust of my pads

If you want little to no dust, you can get Powerstop Z23 brake pads from Rock Auto. Tons of people have been saying good things about them. Hawk HPS and EBC Redstuff are a couple other good options.

I installed the Meyle ceramic pads from ECS tuning (wish I'd seen the EBC Redstuff post earlier). A couple weeks in and a dramatic reduction in dust, though not as much as I'd hoped. Now that they're broken in I'm going to wash again and track the dust accumulation day by day.

Fitted these 75 miles ago or so.

Good bite so far, haven't completed the bed in procedure yet.

Bed in now completed.

The pedal has lots of initial bite and feels pretty good, but I've not yet leaned on the brakes hard.

I've been using the Powerstop Z23 kit (drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads) up front and I am extremely impressed with the performance and lack of dust, zero squeal. I have no regrets and I'd recommend them - at least for a daily driven street car. A lot of F30 people have been using these and are also satisfied.

Can't beat it for the $.

And for blank rotors:

Wouldn't push them too hard. It's literally designed to be a quiet dust free street pad - not suitable for high temperatures.
EDIT: I'm also planning on installing them, they're sitting in the garage right now

That's exactly what I found with them. Just switched to the new Cool Carbon ST+. Wanted more heat tolerance for the occasional HPDE day. Slightly more dust than EBC, which basically had none, (a little hard to tell on Anthracite ARC8's ) but a lot better at fade resistance . No noise. Very satisfied with these as I had just about given up on finding a real dual purpose pad. These are as close as I've been able to come.

Nice!
I'm planning on getting the powerstop track day rotor/pad kit to just swap on for track days. I would only go a few times a year so they should last me a long time and I won't have to keep breaking in the pads each time.

Thanks, the car will never see track work and I don't drive that hard on the road. I have a Miata(that is being turbocharged soon!) for balls on fire driving/track work.

So far I'm happy with them, the initial grab is exactly what I wanted, coupled with almost zero dust.
