2009 1-series speakers
Morning all:
So, here’s the question that’s been pondering me: I have an 09 1-series with “professional” deck in it and, for reasons only known to me and my stupidity, I want to try and attempt to upgrade the speakers to bang & olufsen bmw stock speakers from - for example- an X5 or X6 or whatever B&O speakers are made for other BMW models.... Trouble is, I cannot seem to find any info online on the exact speaker sizes I have or the stock sizes of B&O bimmer speakers.... Any help or experience on it there’s likely to be complete size:fitting compatibility would be very much appreciated. Thanks all D |

Why would you go through the headaches of doing what you're proposing when there are companies out there with upgraded drop in/plug and play options? You can go to Bavsound and Bimmertech for speaker options. And if you can still find the Focal BMW plug and play speakers, that is an option as well. I did the Focals in my car.

Or you could look in the wrecking yards for a 1 series with the top level sound system.

The sizes should be identical in diameter but may vary in depth. Don't want to hit the window when it's down or worse, shut the door hard while it's down and have things hit if they were only just close to begin with.
Have to think about amps and equalization too, some have built-in EQ'ing to compensate for car interior shapes / speaker profiles. Agreed I'd look at existing upgrade packages. Put your DIY desires to work on the installation and skip configuring your own system. Doesn't work so well with stock parts form other vehicles. |
