Hey, New Owner of a 1M
Yeah, just officially purchased my baby yesterday.
Haven't driven her much at all yet as I had to crash an hour after the transfer, but what little I have has been pretty magical thus far. Planning on driving a few hours today. Probably around 200 miles. Mostly just going to be highway cruising, so nothing to get too excited about... But I'm still pretty excited! I love not being jaded. Anyway, she's a stock VO 1M with all the boxes checked except for 6NF ( oh the humanity! ), and she's sitting pretty at 2,038 miles on the odometer. Everything is perfect. Paint is amazing. The steering wheel is the most supple leather I've ever had the joy of wrapping my hands around. I was worried that my 'is was going to be too similar for me to justify the purchase, but nope. All I have ever owned car wise has had blue exterior, so the switch to orange has been strange. Making it a foreign feeling to enjoy. I dunno, guys... I'm just extremely excited about this. Feels good. Surprisingly, not a single nagging feeling in my stomach other than she might be too good for me. Like the feeling one gets when they have a supermodel girlfriend who is also a doctor for a nonprofit group. Except that I bought her, so she's mine, and I own her in the eyes of the law. Mwahahahaha. Teehee, I'm in love. |

So the Viagra pills of the previous owner were apparently to no avail. Damsel in distress: remedy the situation and treat her the way she deserves. Oh, and beware: once you're pushing into higher revs, she's kinda screamer. 'La petite morte' is encountered somewhere past 6000rpm.

Congrats, always happy to welcome latest 1M owners. Your pleasant sentiments are very recognizable, and the good news is that they will last for quite a while.
Don't bother with 6NF, 6FL will play your ipod music just fine. If you still keep that itch, go for the latest NBT (F) series IDrive retrofit. |

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. It's my experience that communities centered around cars made in lower production volumes generally have above average worth, ha.
I found her in central Ohio. Not even an hour from where I got my main squeeze, an '02 M coupe around 2ish years ago. So both of my keepers are from the place abouts. Neat! Haha. The PO was really nice and laid back. A pleasure to meet, and he had plenty of eye-poppingly good stories to share with me. Plus I got to peep out a small slice of his heartache-inducing collection - a red M1 road car (!), a Saphire black Z4M, a red E30 M3, a creamy white 2002 Turbo with M pinstripes and a tiny black decklid, a Porsche 914-6 and 911GT3. All looking right off the factory lines. Simply splendid, surely. I haven't traded in the 'is yet. I need to remove the glossy black grilles, the eyeglasses holder, and the level 3 Musicar system (mainly the sub in the trunk.) When I do, I'm planning on getting my mom an X1 that she enjoyed. Might be her last new car, and I'd rather she have something nicer than the Fiesta she bought herself in '12. (Good car, but... You know.) So that'll go towards one of those. Haven't decided on engine or drivetrain yet, but the dealers out near me are wheelin' and deali' on 'em just to get them off the floor space. Anyway, I'll get some pictures uploaded from the ol' Nikon once I get home (and she arrives... In 2 weeks, wah.) I plan on a nice shoot with all my players at the moment - the 'is in LMB, LSB-respray S52 and Estoril S54 M coupes. Feels like a game if BMW Pokemon at the moment. |

Wow, what a fun trip and great collection! Was this the VO referred to in another thread, for sale by the owner of Kelly BMW? Curious, with a collection like that why he'd even get rid of it? Lucky for you!

Haha, could be... I just happened to see the listings update one night. I said to myself, "If it is anywhere between $xx and $xx, I'll do it." It popped up with the unlisted price replaced with a figure within my limit.
** Warning- TL;DR is to be posted ** I don't want to throw out the final cost (sale + tax + fees) via the Intraw3bz at the moment, but I can say that it was lower than what it'd have been it there hadn't been an adjustment. But definitely not enough to dissuade much of the masses from telling me I paid more than I should've. They could be correct this time, or they could be wrong. They're probably right, though, haha. Oh well... I can say that I've never had a good experience with a brand specific dealership before ( or basically any other kind there is). My only previous encounters with those in the BMW game vary from not great, to leaving downright insulted. So that weighed in, and I prepared to just walk out and go home carless if any red flags popped up or I felt I was being too mistreated by the staff ( the thought that the interaction between the sales staff and myself could actually be anything other than irritating or aggravating never crossed my mind, ha.) I was willing to take some shenanigans from them since I figured such was a given with all of em... Buuuut I wasn't going to be treated like my desire for the car was limitless and could be taken advantage of without restraint. I'll probably update this thread with an overall report with the dealings and the car once my baby gets off the carrier, hopefully unmolested. As of this second, though, I'm willing to say that I feel a whole lot better about this deal than I ever did during my purchase of the 'is, or the subsequent follow ups, with a more local lot in CA. That one was entirely sickening, and has made me aware that a car is simply not worth feeling that way over. |

I actually read it the same way after I finished writing the sentence. Amused me enough not reword it. Hana.
