Buckled wheel help needed!?

Is it possible to determine if a buckled alloy wheel has been repaired in the past and how is this possible?

I think the dealership I bought my 135i is trying to con me so I need some info here please.

How are they trying to con you? I can't imagine how it would have been repaired in a way that you can't find any evidence of. More importantly if they repaired it so well that you can't even tell....what is the issue?

Well when I first bought the thing the steering was a bit off like the car would pull to the left a little then I took it into another dealership and complained about the steering again and they told me that it was fine. After visiting the dealership for the 3rd time they eventually found that the cars wheel was buckled. Does it make sense now? What I would like to find out is if it is possible to look out for any signs of repair on that wheel so that I can stick it to them.

It's when ur wheel hits a bump or a pothole at a high speed and bends or loses round form and then messes with ur steering and allot more. Trust me not something to experience cause those alloys are expensive to replace and mine are custom.

They can be repaired if it's not too serious. Generally pretty expensive and involves heating until malleable and reforming. Works better on forged wheels as well.

A bent rim should not affect the steering. Only thing it should do is cause a vibration.

+1 on that. If steering is affected any more than a steering wheel jiggle, something in your suspension is bent or loose or broken completely.

Well it does cause vibration too. And the thing pulls to the left as well cause the shocks must be buggered too and so is the alignment from what I gather. As I said I need to prove that this was not my fault cause really it's not my fault at all.

If it's pulling, chances are you/previous owner hit the pothole so hard that it bent a control arm.

A bad tire can cause a pull, it is called "radial pull", any GOOD tire machine can measure it. Note that pull and steering wheel off Center are two very different things, and the faults and repairs of either are different.

If the car is actually pulling, it is usually most likely a tire issue or a dragging brake.

An easy way to check is to swap the front tires left to right and see if the pull changes direction. Rear tires will not cause a pull.

So how fast would someone need to go over a bump or a pothole to damage an alloy rim and cause buckling? I'm very much sure I didn't cause this and do you think there is a way to prove that I'm not at fault.

+1

Bent wheels won't cause your car to pull in one direction or another. You will just notice vibrations.
