The 1M Press Day powerpoint presentation stated production numbers to come in around 800. Now could that change? Sure, however, Matt has said numerous times that there's no additional units coming to the U.S. in 2012. So unless BMWAG is keeping him in the dark, I'd have to go by what Matt has stated several times.

Personally, BMW realeased a statement that there would be NO 2012 1M. Based on this I paid way over MSRP because we can only do ED in Summer. If they would've "left it open" as the poster says, then I would've waited until next summer for sure. I based my decision primarily on their statement that there would be no 2012, which was reinforced several times by the dealership when negotiating the price.
Personally, I will live with it, BUT, I don't want to hear people saying it shouldn't matter when they say they will not produce it one year, then do. I will have to write this off as a lesson learned, but I do believe it will leave a bad aftertaste if they go with a 2012 after saying they won't. If they reimburse what I paid over MSRP, all would be fine I guess, but I doubt that would happen. |

I still dont think most of you guys can get this through your head.
Just because they will produce the car into 2012 does not mean that there will be a US 2012 model. Other countries will probably have a 2012 model just because that's the way it will be labeled because of delivery dates. They also said all along that they will produce the car all the way through 2011 for the US market and it would be hard to get but they weren't going to limit production to a specific number, it would be based on demand. NOTHING has changed....

I think we need to wait to see Official Statements from BMW.
On the 8th the Delivery Specialist who went over my car with me at the Welt also said they had decided to increase production of the car. But he said it would only be a 100 to 200 cars, not 2000 - 3000. In the end we will just need to wait and see how this unfolds.

Heard this from a dealer today:
"We received an update from BMW about the 2011 1M coupes - they are now completely sold out for this model year. No news yet whether they will be offering a similar model for 2012, but there have been some hints that something is in the wings." |

Correct. If you go back to the original BMW interviews, K Segler always said that it would NOT be a limited edition but it would be "hard to get". Also, we have always known that the car would be mfr until about March 2012 when BMW do the line switch out at Leipzig. This doesn't mean that there will be a US 2012 model, but there will probably be some "2012" cars sold in other geographies.

I did leave him my LONG list with my email and hopefully his will get back to me soon with the answers from his higher ups. He did say he has to "ask" what he is allowed to say and not say. But he did promise to get back to me. I did ask him about the production numbers and about production being continued until March 2012 - as I was told in an email from Leipzig Werk. He said that was news to him. I also asked him what about a 1M Vert and he simply smilled. I think that is a real possibilty. I did see a room with some Vert bodies getting a lot of welding done to them in teh factory. Again - no confirmation - just telling you what I saw and felt by his answers. AND... I did ask about a CSL... and he just shurugged his shoulders. SO... we wil all have to wait! This is why the 1M is being sold as a 2011 year, while all other 1 Series are being sold as 2012 this year. Yes the rest of the 1 Series could be produced until next March and still be sold as 2012 cars. Not true for the 2011 1M's

I wouldn't put much faith in anything in this post beyond what has already been verified by BMW. As for 2012 1M's show us the build sheet or it didn't happen. Couple of questions from the OP link, it says the interview was with the head of the M group Asia Pacific at the Launch of the 1M Last Night? No date on the article at all. yet at the bottom of the Magazine web site is a link to a test of the 1M from July. How old is this article? The Magazine also claims to be a Beta? (Motoring.com/au Beta) Who are these guys?? motoring.com.au is attending the local launch of the 1 Series M in Melbourne today. Check back later for a launch review. Is this true the 1M launch for Australian was last night??

Dude, proof has already been provided. The guy that took delivery at Palm Harbor not long ago drove to Mexico, where he saw one on display, brand new for sale, labeled as a 2012 car, took pictures and posted them. Other markets consider this car a 2012 model and that's ok. Let's not forget the main reason it is labeled a 2011 model in the US is for emission purposes.
That being said, yes production was said to end (and will end) on December of 2011 for the US market. That does not mean that other markets will not take delivery first quarter of 2012. |

Here's another data point, review today of the 1M in Sydney's leading newspaper, states: "The extra 100 units will roll into Australia through the first three quarters of 2012, eked out of a production boost that finishes mid-2012." http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/f...831-1jl2l.html It's important to distinguish between US and non-US cars in this discussion. There may not be any 2012-spec cars sold in the US. In Australia we don't do the US thing of calling cars 2012 even though they were purchased in mid-2011 . . . ie, the model year in the US is based on the 2012 spec sheet rather than the actual 2011 production date. Here an imported car cannot technically be called a 2012 car unless the compliance plate was attached in 2012.
