It's been too long, but we are going strong!
Can’t get enough of this car. We’re sitting at around 296,000 km (about 184k miles) and the thing just keeps going. The N52 motor purrs like a slightly ticky kitten—but still smooth in that unmistakable BMW way. 😻
Recent work has this little beast running even better: new DISA valves, a fresh starter (preventative maintenance, you know), and a few other odds and ends. And, of course, check out that Euro emergency triangle with bracket—because why not add a little flair? 😎 Deep Sea Blue Metallic: A True Chameleon Let’s talk about this color. Deep Sea Blue Metallic is a real gem. In some light, it’s a deep, almost royal blue, and then—bam—it flips to something like Le Mans Blue in the sun. This car knows how to show off. With the major mechanical stuff sorted and regular maintenance done, it’s time for a full detail. This car deserves to look as fresh as it feels, and I’m stoked to give it the love it’s earned. Here’s to the 128i: classic BMW spirit with just the right modern touch. Still turning heads after all these miles. Last edited by M4_ZMT; 01-26-2025 at 05:01 AM.. |

Haha! Twin! That is amazing. Enkei definitely makes a quality wheel for an excellent price on those J10's. Mine were shipped from TireRack as a set, road force balanced and all, can't beat that!
I currently have the style 264's mounted; but this car looks amazing with that wheel and I often toy with going back to them. The tires that I have on the Enkei's are peak rated, which I know is an overkill where I live, but I figured it was worthwhile to have the option if needed. What tire are you running on those? |

I’ve had the J10s for about 14 years, had them first with snow tires on for the E85 when that was my daily but keeping it stored for the salt winter season here they were just quite literally hanging out on my tire rack in the garage for a while figured why not try them out on the E82 and yeah was really surprised how well they look so when it’s warmer those go on for a daily wheel and the stock wheels have the snow tires on that get stored. And when I got them the J10s were like $105/wheel so was really a no brainer back then. I had comments on the E85 that I was over tired when I had azenis 615k on the z4, but then came the bbk, lsd, and ess s/c and felt it was now under tired for occasional track so went with Toyo r1r now on the z4. I think almost better to be over than under in tire ratings no? Never know until you push it wishing you could get that little extra grip. Last edited by Piper1; 02-05-2025 at 10:49 AM.. |

Some quick photos before the rain, still freshly washed and (spray)waxed. The interior was treated to a quick leatherette clean/condition.

Back from the shop and happy as ever!
Hello 1er community! I'm still absolutely loving my '12 128i Coupe. I got it back from the shop after an extensive visit (oofa, my wallet- but it is worth it). The following items were done:
-Motor mounts replaced. -Center driveshaft bearing replaced (solved a pesky roaring noise I had been experiencing when the car was cold and the accelerator was pressed, woo!) -Unfortunately a heavy leak was found at the steering rack and even though rebuilds are available, I chose a new OEM BMW part as I am crazy. It feels absolutely incredible. The steering is legitimately telepathic feeling now. -Hood shocks replaced. -PCV hoses done as needed. -Fuel pump and EKPS replaced as preventative maintenance per my request; I did it on my E46 and it's incredible how much power it restores. Also my vehicle is actually a N51 SULEV (don't tell the license plate), and the filter is part of the unit. -Belt, tensioner, and idler pulley replaced. -Oil service with engine air filter and microfilter. -Various firewall seals replaced that were worn/missing/in poor condition. -Old gross window tint was removed and replaced with fresh 35% (just right!) Ashamed to say that it's first detail with a claybar, buff, polish, and wax was performed, FINALLY. Overall, it's all typical BMW odds and ends, but after this major visit, this car will gladly carry on and on with regular care. These vehicles are too special, in my opinion, to not make sure they are completely within spec at all times. Deep Sea Blue has not gotten old whatsoever! Here's some pics of the DSB love, right after the detail, and then all dusty posing with the roof crossbars on for a few days (was feeling a little rally vibe!). ![]() |
