Recaro CS with airbag

So I finally got some brand new Recaro's and had them redone the way they should have come from the factory in my books

Cool. Do you notice you sit higher, lower or the same in the car? Were there any other bits you needed, or was it a case of upholser the seat and away you go?

You sit a bit higher and its a little more involved you need to wire up the airbags

These seem to be virtually unobtainable in the USA. Very nice work.

Thanks Marty. I knew about the distributor ideal seat company. I thought there might be a trimmer that could organise it.

Bugger! It will be good to see pictures of them in the car.

Can you set the seats at 2 different heights like the original bmw performance seats could?

The performance seats never had different heights

If you wanted that you had to get the macht schnell rails to lower it

The current revision of rails is as low as the seat will go i think

They sent me e46 rails not e82 rails so its a 4 week wait now

.

It mentions the option to bolt them at different heights in the bmw performance seat installation instructions so I thought maybe the sportster could as well. I was interested as my head is quite close to the roof lining and wearing a helmet would be quite close.

Looked on ebay and found some near new cream color 135i seats and using them for spare parts to fully integrate the recaros how they should have been done from the factory

Cut all the plugs off needed to make the recaros plug and play and removed the occupancy sensor from the factory seat and going to be installed into the recaro passenger cushion so no coding will need to be done.

The airbags will function just the same way the factory ones do.

The problem with not running the occupancy sensor is you have to code it out not to get codes and when in an accident the passenger air bag will deploy unnecessarily when no passenger is occupying the seat.

This could mean the car being a write off or not from a financial point.

Spent a nice afternoon installing my fathers day present

Fully functional Airbags, seatbelts and occupancy sensor.

Spent a couple of hrs making it all plug and play.

No coding needed at all.

Wow! The seats look like they came in the car. Very nice. How does the seat height compare to standard?

After some driving today i can notice you sit a tad higher and a bit off center

Doesnt bother me but i might get some universal recaro rails and macht schnell base plates to try and make it work better
