considering the remarkable 1M
Hola everyone
I have been going back and fourth in my brain.......1M or M2 over and over and over. I think I have resolved that I want the 1M. Unfortunately in Mexico we only received a handful back in 2011 so the pickings are slim. I should know more next week as I am selling a car and will be replacing with the 1M. There are two that I am interested in. Black all stock except for wheels with 56,000 kms and Black modded withHIGH-FLOW akrapovik escapes, titanium exhaust valves, intercooler m3 exhaust tips, mirrors and diffusers in carbon fiber.high-performance brembo brakes and discs. blistein springs and shock absorbers. master pro reprogramming high-performance professional clutch and steering wheel. reinforced steel f1 stabilizing bars 610 hp. this one has 18,000 kms. |

curious how much are they asking ?
Looks like car #1 has aftermarket headlights, exhaust, might also have a cobb tune based on those stickers and painted or powdercoated wheels. Car #2 seems to have some tasteful mods. Is it a true black under those wrap ?

car #3 is interesting especially with the carbon door cards.
Why is car #2 listed lower at $50k or is that a typo? That one seems to have the least amount of km/miles driven by a lot not accounting all the mods. I would think the asking would be more unless it was in an accident. That's a tough choice on all 3. If they're local to you, i would check it out in person for inspection. If all 3 comes up clean with no issues, leaks, accidents, etc., then color choice will be up to you if you like the vader or storm trooper look then take it to a BMW dealer for a final PPI if you prefer.

none of the cars are local and the white one is the farthest from me in Cancun. I found another which makes four available. |

If you plan to drive the car at its limits, the rear brakes might cause an issue. I have no proof that they will, but the 1M came with bespoke rear brake pads. You would at least want to make sure the traction control module is coded to GTS spec. I have some details about it in a post here: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1869211

I don't know that I'm a pro on the car, but it looks pretty mint to me. It has been very tastefully modded, and for the mileage I think it is a fair price. I don't know about the fuel in MX, but in the US they mandated adding ethanol circa 2007 which is what kills the injectors and fuel pump. I got mine with 50k miles on it, and at cold startup there was a faint puff of black smoke from the exhaust indicating leaking injectors. I replaced the valve cover, injectors, and high-pressure pump as preventive maintenance. I also had a dealership do a walnut blast of the intake ports, since it was due.
Considering the car looks to be at full operating temp, it appears the idle is a tad high. It should be a little closer to the 500 rpm mark than 1k rpm; so there could be a small vacuum leak. However, it doesn't appear to be fluctuating and it is a 10+ year old car with several small rubber/cloth vacuum lines. Last edited by PRTSB1M; 02-12-2024 at 05:12 PM.. |
