Bring it to the dealer while you still have warranty.

a traditional oil dipstick would have avoided all these oil questions/confusions.......

sometimes i think bmw is moving backward with its technology.....

Why not? I added 1 quart of Mobil 1 5w30 systhetic when the low oil warning came on at 8000 miles. Now it's 16,000 miles and my service are coming soon. Why bother to drive to dealer and wait and wait while you can just buy a $5 bottle of mobil 1 and fill it. You'll be good to go.

BMW - Technology for technology sake. You think that they saved enough money eliminating a dipstick to pay for this whole thing. You'd have thought for 1 generation they'd give you both. Then if/when the electronic one really checked out they could save the .50 later.

Yeah, I cannot imagine a 70-year-old person has to dip the stick to check oil at gas stations. hehehe. Anyway, technology is always good if it's at the right time which I think BMW is.
