anyone try QUAIFE ATB Differentials on their 128i?

Hello, going down a path, where I think I want a LSD in the diff now. Recently I added a 3SI and 3.73 ratio to the car. I have yet to do the tune, but that car is already pulling very well. Wondering if anyone has had direct experience with the QUAIFE ATB Differential in their E82?

I tend to drive "spiritedly" and just get bummed when the 1 wheel peel occurs, usually in the wet and snow. In the dry, if I am hooning in the old setup, if I blip the throttle say before the apex, both wheels would stay engaged and propel the car forward smoothly, but the conditions need to be spot on. I am curious how the summer tires will perform, so may wait until spring to finalize the decision. I tend to not run too much tire, 225 width square PSS.

I do like the fact this geared LSD is low maintenance, but will it do the job? Wondering if anyone regrets this path, and feel, the clutch type was the way to go... Also I have worked really hard to dial out the understeer on this chassis, so wouldn't want to make that worst with the LSD in the rear...

I ran a similar diff (M-Factory helical) on my old 128i. Even with 255 section rears I could feel a difference (at the track for sure but also in spirited driving). Either way it will improve compared to stock, even if you don't go all the way to a clutch type setup.

With 225 section rears you're probably going to feel improvement even more.

I’ve had a Quaife in my 128i for 9 years - works perfectly and zero maintenance. Even w stock HP and torque you can play with the car much more than with an open diff. Highly recommended.
I found that a stock 128i does not want to rotate under power and the open stock diff and staggered tire set up doesn’t help.
In addition to the Quaife I squared my wheel/ tire package and added M3 control arms up front. Far more neutral handling and that’s with no other suspension mods. I’ve recently done the DISA intake mod and AA headers with Stage FP tune. The car is wildly entertaining now.

No experience with the Quaife but had a Wavetrac installed a couple of years ago. Very similar Torsen style diffs. although Wavetrac claims certain advantages. Definitely worth your time to check out. This is a great, trouble free upgrade. Very different experience coming out of slow corners. On square 225/40/18's , a really fun drive.
