1M Available for Performance Center Driving School this Summer
From the BMWUSA.com 1M page:
"BMW M has always been synonymous with unrivaled performance, power and exhilaration. And now, you have the unique chance to unleash the power of the all-new 1 Series M Coupe at our Performance Driving School in Spartanburg, South Carolina*. *The 1 M Coupe arrives in the Performance Center in Summer 2011." I was wondering if there would be a 1M there for my PCD I'm planing in June. I guess that answers my question... |

That's great news. Guess this captured photo of the 1M at the performance center (from buckeyesi's X3 performance center delivery) was a preview of things to come:

I saw that clip of video and was hoping that I could drive a 1M when I do the PCD. This makes me happy. Now I have to see if everything can be arranged to do a 1 day M Driving School at the same time.

Do you have to be PCDing a 1MC to drive a 1MC? Or will I be able to test one out when I pick up an M3?

It includes 2 nights hotel, meals, ground transportation, the cars, the instructors, the tires, the gas, the certificate, a shirt, a jacket, a hat, a helmet, and a whole bunch of silly ass kicking fun.

I hope they also have the 1M available for the Advanced M School at VIR. I am still waiting for them to publish dates for that school.

I am a member of BMW CCA. I just can't decide which I would enjoy more, driving P cars or M cars. It's always more fun learning in someone else's car
But first I head to rally driving school later this month. Check this out: |

If they use it in the M school it will be the only manual transmission. The M3s, M5s, and M6s are all automatics. I would rather have driven a 1M, especially versus the M5. It was fun but...

It's easily more than twice as educational and valuable. The second day turns the first day's eight hours worth of training turn into habits and reflex instincts, instead of leaving them as a unique memory. Building upon these with drills, a chance to refine what you've learned and getting that helmet is something that should not be missed. |

AW 1M, that is awesome>rally school.
I did 3 days of Cart racing at Jim Hall racing school in Ventura. It wasn't expensive, and they teach you a lot of "race-related" techniques. |
