Does the Aluminum flow better with the door handles, shifter, etc.?
sounds like a dumb question, but all I have are pictures to go off... |

What exterior color? If it were me I'd go for the poplar, for some reason the silver on red looks funny to me. I think it's because with coral/alum you have 3 interior colors, black, red, and silver... just looks odd IMO.

hands down aluminum. I had the gray poplar on my black/coral red and hated it with a passion. Went with the aluminum in my '11 (albeit black interior) and I could not be happier. Much sportier and fitting with the character of the 1er IMO.

I had the opposite experience. My 335 has the aluminum interior and I liked it at first, but it got old after a while.
I have the Gray Poplar in the 135 and I'm liking it a lot more. However, this is with black leather but I still think it'll go well with red.

I went with Gray as I hate the AL option they offer in the States (we can't have the brushed option? really? wtf?), but I can't say I like the Gray either. Personally I think all the US options suck...
My plan is to live with it for awhile and then order the Euro brushed AL bits. Quote:

none of the above^^^^ go with Black Gloss or BMW CF interior trim... The BMW CF isvery pricey but very very nice looking. I have the Black Gloss and love it. Its subtle and blends is really well and looks stealth. The Poplar sucks and i also agree the aluminum gets old real fast...i do not like the Poplar wood at all on ANY interior interior.... Now some Cherry, Walnut or a exotic wood would fill; the ticket..but Poplar is one of the lowest grade woods...lousy grain pattern, and color( naturally yellowish)....not even good for firewood..

Can I vote....none of the above?
I like brushed aluminum, but not the raised truck plating they offer in the 135i. I was going to order the black Ebony, but my dealer said it looked cheap. When I told him I didn't like the aluminum either, he said you have to go with wood in a BMW and suggested the Poplar. I saw it was a $500 option over all the other finishes on the 128i, so I went with it. It's like getting an upgrade for free on the 135i. I'd still prefer the brushed aluminum if it were offered, but I think no matter what material it is, that little strip on the dash looks like it's tacked on...like it was an afterthought.
