Can you tell me more about this picture. This car and colour is the inspiration behind why I chose VO. When I was a little boy, my uncle bought a 323i just like that. In the hands of my older cousin, this was my first fast car experience and also my first sporty BMW experience.

Here's some reply's I've been promising: (from latest to earlier requests)
More Video - More to come. I've had terrible internet connections and the videos, even 30 seconds in length are taking 30-40 minites to upload...When I get home on Monday I'll add those. Video Walkaround - Watch for it Tuesday Lap Time, as fast as I thought? - Faster. Wait until you get the opportunity to drive this thing. I'm not the type to rush to the drag strip and walk around with a slip (Well until I get the car back home, I guess....), however, it's just fast. I had three differnt people out on the track with me today who were all 1000 laps deep at Nurburgring, and they all walked away asking more questions about the car. It suits this track in many ways, becuase the wheelbase is shorter and it's not a open and wide and flat as so many of the more modern tracks. I'm not sure it would be as fun at, say, Laguna Seca, but its great on this style of track. Don't forget about the torque, the tourqe fires you out of corners. Break In - I made a quick post about this earlier, and I've been happy with how I've been treating it, decently. I'm using a lot of the car, but not abusively. 323i @ the Welt - WAY, I don't think there was any significance to this, however, I will tell you that I built a Tamiya Alpina 323 model when I was about 9, and it was definately part of the inspiration to buy this car. I have them both now. Exhaust - Under Shot. Watch for it. Robert, I do have some experience with the Caymen S, but more with the Boxster S. I'll write again when I've got a few more moments. Interior Pics - Watch for Walk Around video and images to come. 1st Car - Alice, I'm not exactly sure how I got the first 1M. I can say that I received a premailout Novemeber copy of Bimmer (in late Septemeber I beleive) and it had a one page flash on the car. I was on my way to buy a 997 GT3 that afternoon. Instead I picked up the phone and ordered this from my local dealer, who really had no details about it. I didn't ask the price (although it was still a concern), I didn't ask about colours, basically I didn't care, this was the "recipe" for the car I always wanted....I think I was an "early adopter". Perhaps early enough to earn that spot on the list??? Dunno Extra Radiator - Sorry maxnix, I didn't ask. I will see if I can find out via some of the people I've met. Munich Birds - I'll tell you what, not only was it unsightful, it was active stuff. Eric at SONAX tricked me into getting him coffee while he colour sanded away the damage....and wouldn't you know, the next night some massive animal climbed up the hood, acorss the roof and down the trunk, before sliding off the pass. rear quarter panel...We went BACK to SONAX and they buffed out the whole mess AGAIN. Throttle Response - jc-on-the-vc, the throttle response is much better than previous models, and even better again using the M-Button. I'm big supporter of Sprint Booster, but I'm not sure this car will need one. I'll try it out when it gets home and let you know. Mini Cooper S - as7920, I have experiecne with the Mini Cooper S, I'll write again when I have more time (4:30 am here now). Top Speed Run - Many have discussed the Top Speed Run, and after reading my post it would seem I forgot an important point...it was still accelerating. I wasn't willing to plant my foot on the floor to keep going (I was close already, but there was a bit more to go). Thank you the kind words, insight and encouragement everyone. DJ |

Good sample point. When I test drove CS I felt it to be a little larthagic compare to 135i but I didn't rev pass 4k on the CS. The raw mechanical feeling of the Porsche can't be duplicated though. 135i has too much insulation and refinement.
