Harman Kardon applied in e88?

Hi! Nowadays I’m considering to purchase used e88, but apparentely, the basic stereo system is rubbish, so I want to request retrofit after I buy the vehicle.

Actually, there is an option for sound upgrading at local car audio store, but I want more speakers and prefer originally and officially fitted system from BMW, so I want to ask about whether e88 had an option for H&K, and if weren’t at that time, could u guys tell me which options were available for sound system for e88 at that time?

I believe mine has the HK sound system. Its pretty decent. Though my e90 has the professional sound sustem with speakers even under the front seats. There is no other sound system better that this for me.

Yeah, Its not as good as good as the E90. I believe the “Professional” sound series radio makes the big difference. I havent done much research on this.

If I were you, I would look at the ordering guide for the model year you're investigating. Look at the option codes, packages, and exclusions. Would give you an idea of what could be a problem with the retrofit.

I would love to retrofit it into my car also!!

Thanks! But after I searched ordering guide of e88 (actually it was 2013 US version but still), it says it was available to order H&K system (688) at that time!

I discovered 2012/13 version of e88 ordering guide for US version, and I could find there 688 H&K option!

No, I don't. I didn't know this was a problem either until now. I took it for granted that my Model Year was available. If I was you, I would contact the BMW in charge of your area. I'm sure there are differences in the UK 1ers. Best to try and get it from the source. Maybe Facebook??
