TPMS not functioning

so I bit the bullet and bought the 4 sensors.

Had them installed with new Michelin x ice.

Mechanic got them hooked up no problem. Drove home 5 mi. OK. Next AM drove 14 miles and the alarm went off message:

something like: "Tire monitoring not active"

It won't reset and the tire icon is lit all the time, occaionslly it will change to "not active" then go back to just the icon.

It always gives the "Inactive" message upon starting.

Resetting it doesn't work.

any ideas?

When water got into my trunk it fried the RDC module responsible for tpms. Maybe this somehow happened to you? It is located behind the passenger wheel arch in the trunk, in front of the tail light. It is below the little "tray" in the carpet. If it is, you can just code it out and use the euro ABS style TPMS.

update

Discount tire direct sent me 4 different sensor valve stems to try and a sensor. The mechanic didn't think they were going to fit but they did and it is now working.
