That blog is a somewhat local guy I know of; was actually at one of his events last weekend. CWSCC is the club he runs. Big into autocross and some roadcourse/time attack stuff.
Last Winter buddy of mine had a miata with bolted tires. Rode in it, tried chasing it ... the fun ruined me and I wanted to have that much fun too.
So that's what made me want to make my own bolted tires.

I went over the cost of doing it various ways, traditional push in studs, screw in studs, snowmobile studs, sheet metal screws and bolts. From a pure cost standpoint, bolts won out.

I'm not one of those that quits racing when it snows. I can't sit idle and hope for Summer watching my car in a depressed state. I know it wants to run and who am I to say no. LOL

And the S2K in the blog, this year he's running 250 bolts per tire. He's just getting them together few weekends back.
Wild stuff thanks for sharing!!! Do you have to take those studs out to run on any kind of pavement? I'm assuming yes but I'm completely unaware of this stuff lol.

Yes. These are for ice (lakes/rivers) only.
We have a smaller group that go and play a few weekends a year. I'm hoping to find a little more though, like every weekend.

Most of the car videos here are from them.

New front wheel hubs, an oil change, and a detail yesterday -- a long drive to go hiking in the Pisgah National Forest and drink beer at Sierra Nevada today.

How are the Koni's holding up?
And those ECS 2 Piece rotors- I missed those getting installed! They holding up well? Worth the cost?

I've been impressed with both the Koni and ECS 2 piece rotors. I've had both of them on for quite a well, put them through the paces most every day, and they've held up beautifully. In addition to being great street car gear, they also look great with the wheel off. If you can swing either upgrade, I'd recommend them. I wish ECS had offered a 2 piece rear rotor at the time, but went with the 1 piece rears and painted them to look like 2 pieces / mimic the fronts.

Take a look at pages 4, 5 and 6 for my brake upgrade posts:

I'm running the same Koni/Eibach package installed last April, and love em. But in that time I've only got about 7,000 miles. You, on the other hand, have put about, what, a million miles on yours in a few months longer, so glad to hear they're handling the mileage well!

Rotors tho- those I've got to do with my next brake job. I've been eyeballing those same ECS 2 piece rotors. I totally missed that you had installed em, thanks for the links.

How is that anywhere near Sierra or Nevada???
JK. Looks awesome.

Went for a little hike myself, but had to take the Pathfinder to hold the family and all our gear.
It was much rainier here in NorCal.

I do, but my notes are at the house, so can't get to em until after work.

Google searching found a couple of posts on it, the one I used also had a link for the 2019 maps. Just a heads up, the map files run ~25 GB expanded, and the zip you download from Mega goes ~16 GB (that you extract to that 25GB to install in the car).

It's kind of crazy, but HFT mats are awesome. Inexpensive, easy to clean (easy to clean under if need be), highly configurable, light weight, comfortable to walk and stand on, insulating, and easy to replace. Did I say highly configurable? I also have more squares along side my tool box (to the right of me in the picture).

There's an additional 51 square feet on the other side of the car (2x6), and I have a "floating" 34 square feet to throw wherever it's needed (like, under the car).

I'd like to "finish" the garage floor (along doing with wall and ceiling paint, plus ceiling and wall insulation) (and my SO wants me to, even more...(???)) with black and white tiles on the floor, but even with all that "fancy stuff I'd still buy these. I've spent more than enough time under cars, in carports, changing engines, clutches, transmissions, etc. with my (then) long hair dipped in the engine oil of countless piles-of-crap automobiles (5 washes with Dawn, FTW!)

I don't have enough height in my garage for a proper lift, but I have no problem getting it up in the air. With the pads it's as comfortable to work under the car now as back in the day, on the lawn, under the tree (congratulations to those that still can).

Work on the car, drink a few beers. Take a nap. Wake up banging your head on a suspension component.

The good life.

FINALLY washed it, and with an awesome product my dad has been using on his GTI with good results. Super easy, and painless on a cold, windy day like today. The paint is looking extra moist...

Picked up a nice heavy full-grain leather bomber jacket over the break.
Now my cold-weather limit is closer to 50 than 60 degrees, so I drove in to work Top-Down!
