Ported and block matched N53 head and big twins with all piping from Hydra, schrick camshafts, etc etc.

I'll share more details as they emerge.

135 has about 80k miles on it and last week I had a couple misfire codes. Ordered new plugs and coils and they just got delivered today. Hopefully I’ll put them in this week.

If you haven’t already changed plugs in your 135 before, know it’s a funky spark plug size. Bought new plugs and had to wait an additional week for a new spark plug socket to arrive...

Didn’t even consider it’d be different from my 128, but it is

Ooooh, sounds like fun. I was about to be excited about cams, but then remembered the N53 doesn't have the same head as the N52. Bummer.

Yeah N53 is a good match for the N54 since both engines use DI. Intake volute is bigger on the N53 though allowing for better airflow even before porting. Requires custom tubular turbofolds to install twin turbos, but that's half the fun!

Can't wait to get back on the ground and with car completed following all these projects between the CF roof plug, headliner, 1M front conversion, M3/F82 mutt chassis and suspension, seat covers, and finally the engine overhaul.

Are there high lift valvetrains available for the N52?

I’ve done it twice before, the car is tuned at eats plugs at a faster rate then stock. I bought one of the specific thin walled sockets some years back. Thanks for the heads up though, appreciate it.
It will be my first time replacing the coils, might as well at this mileage and no extra labor on top of doing the plugs. It’s getting all the parts off to get at plugs/coils is the time consuming part.

It's Debbie's (my 1'er) 1st birthday today and to celebrate i'm going to give a quick love/hate list of what I have found over the past year.

Love:
- How easily she smokes most Aussie V8's.
- The power delivery
- Tune-ability
- Grip/handling etc
- The sounds she makes when she wants more fuel pumping through her veins on a winding road.
- Tips and advice from the community (Thanks folks)
- Pretty much most things but mainly peoples reactions to the whooshy noises she makes. "did that little beemer just sneeze?"

Hate:
Cup holder under the arm rest...seriously BMW...there??? (and yes i know not all of them are like this).
- Bluetooth calls but not media.
- Base Audio (But this will be changed)
- Finding new scratches when I wash her.
- When she has less than 20km of fuel left, the petrol indicator removes 3 pieces of information (time/temp/user specified) not just on the dash but also on the pop up screen for which i have to push the button on the end of the indicator to remove...only to come back again every 30 seconds.

This car is my first forced induction car and BMW and it is absolutely intoxicating. I've had sport cars with 4/6/8 cylinders but this is different. At this point I plan on keeping her for the long haul and putting some hours and money into her over the next 5 years or so, make her a real "street car".

Once again thank you all for being an awesome community, I look forward to a few more years with you all.

Just MILVS.

Schrick was working on a cam, but that project seems to have disappeared. BimmerMILVS (who machines the MILVS) is working on an exhaust cam, which (as of over 6 months ago) was being machined and then tested.

With the geometry limitations of the Valvetronic system, it seems like all we're going to get is a very mild increase no matter what.

Got new mounts installed went with turner 60a motor mounts, and rouge engineering transmission mounts. Feel solid no noticeable NVH, also got a spec stage 3+ clutch and a steel flywheel on. Finally have the DAW 775rs turbos in. Big thanks to Stage Fab & performance in NC for install.

Enjoy the new setup.

I'd strongly advise you inspect the inner poly inside the Turner mounts every 10k or so. The poly on the passenger side by the DP is highly likely to melt. Luckily they are easily rebuild able.

Good heads up. You think visual is enough to make sure? I'm probably past 10K on mine.

Ordered some orange G2 brake caliper paint. Time to ditch the crusty looking rears and dull fronts. Also got caliper rebuild kits for the front and rear from Zeckhausen Racing, since everything will be apart, and my front right caliper has 3 torn dust boots. Need to figure out if I'm going to try and install the F30 335i rear calipers I have or not.

And I ceramic coated the windshield since it was replaced with Avalon King Armour Shield IX. I can't comprehend how anyone can drive without a coated windshield, it's just so nice, and wipers last soooo much longer than without it coated, and in anything other than a torrential downpour, you don't even need to use wipers at speed.

Depends on use. If you track or do extended pulls or high speed runs I'd probably at least jack the engine and look at the poly itself.

Sounds awesome, I been reading about hydra turbos. When I was in the market for my turbos I went to RB but I didn't even know hydra was an option. Good option too it looks like, and decently priced.
I'd be very curious to your build. I think I want to go the same route

I installed the M-Sport door sills today. Tough to find used so got them from eBay (some Latvian seller). My old ones were all dried and crusted around the edges after almost 12 years on the car. Definitely time for a replacement in my book. And yes I know my interior is dirty! I will get around to it

Trying an intake snorkel. Gonna try to tap it into one of the brake ducts or maybe even get fancy with the blanked out side of the lower grille. If it makes a better sound at a minimum, I’ll be pleased.

Ceramic coating a windshield, I must be getting old. Us old schoolers used Rain-X. I’m going to have to look into that.

It is honestly the best! I use Gtechniq G2 coating for my windshields on all my families cars and I don't want to drive without it.

Similar to Rain-X, you no longer need to use the wipers and it lasts a year to 4 years. Of course all depending on your environment. My GTI which I drive all year round gets close to 2 years with NY winters, and my 128i has lasted 4 years because I don't drive it in the winter. It just wore off, so I will be reapplying very soon.

Thanks for the info. Used Rain-X for years and applied it usually twice a year and like the stuff you’re taking about you didn’t even need the wipers. Great for keeping bug guts off the glass also.

Problem for many of us was it would make the wipers chatter across the glass and not glide smoothly. Became a pain in the neck so I stopped using it. I’m in NY on LI so we don’t get the kind of weather you do but the 1 is my DD and is used all winter. I’m definitely going to look into the G2. Thanks

No wiper chatter here. Just silent and smooth. And they whisk the water away in a most satisfying way.

Warning! Could indirectly lead to gelled smelly washer fluid bottle.

Don't need your wipers > probably need washers seldom > water sits in there. Then the fun of disassembling your car to clean the bottle and filter.
