If you can afford the maintenance on the M5 (which will be considerably higher than a non-M car) then go for it. I've always dreamed of owning a E39 M5 (Imola/Imola FWIW)!

It's probably a nice car, but with no warranty you're talking a potential maintenence nightmare on top of a payment that wouldn't be significantly less (if at all) than the payment on a 135i.
It's 6 years old too. Unless I was stocking an amatuer car collection where the car would be more of a toy than functional transportation, I'd be driving something less exotic and burdonsome. |

I dreamed of owning an E39 M5 too... Six years ago. Old BMWs are rough. Besides, you will never know if the previous owner/owners did that (video stuff) with that M5. Chances are shes not a virgin.:wink:

So after further thought I have decided against the ///M5 for the obvious reasons. Interesting comparison from a link posted by dna550. Funny how they classify the M5 as a "Compact" Now have to decide if I want a 4dr or Coupe?
