Did Glorious and Nebo on the bike yesterday. Great roads but LOTS of wallopers and slow moving cars with trailers.

IIRC, this run isn't too bad. Of course I will sneak back up the coast through ESK instead of heading back to Brissie. Meet point would be the Gap somewhere. Someone will need to check if it is worth while taking Esk-Kilcoy Road up Somerset and back around - it may be too narrow and slow - we'll rely on no slow cars to make it worth while. While taking it right across to Esk might be plain boring, it do cut an hour of the trip and really the best part of the run would be up to Wivenhoe, and from Esk to Toowoomba.

Or this Mammath.... lol That way you minimise the highway runs, and we can go up the range with our twin turbos. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...469177&t=h&z=9

Having now picked up my car I am keen to meet fellow members and tag along on the next drive that's organised. I've also had an idea for a little while involving the Clem 7 tunnel. If someone has a decent video camera and they can have someone filming in one lane out the window while a line of us pass by in the other lane I think the outcome could be a rather nice video. Not sure if the tunnel would hamper the audio side or make it better than a normal road video though. Unfortunately I don't have a video to experiment with but perhaps someone else has tried something similar? I also think it would probably need to be done in the wee hours when there is little other traffic to interfere. That's also conveniently the time when it's still toll free at present. Maybe I've got rocks in my head with this concept but what's everyone elses thoughts as to whether it would work or not?

Sounds good Brad, but the tolls are now being charged, think its $2.95 untill May?
I have a HD video camera, but problem is when you put it out a window with air movement the sound is stuffed and all you get is wind noise... |

I actually entered an underground carpark for the first time in the car tonight and had only the roof open and boy did the exhaust/engine and intake sound good! Just need a way to capture that alongside without interference. |

Hey all,
Just thought I would introduce myself, my name is Nathan - I just picked up a gorgeous white 125i MT last week, so i'm quite the happy chappy! Had to get the feel for the car early and took her for a leisurely stroll through the hills, must say I haven't had this much fun in a car since my WRX!! What a great combination of a vehicle! If all events are inclusive, I'd definately like to attend the next meeting! Hope to see a few of you around the traps Kind regards, NJL |

Hi Nathan and welcome. I am relatively new here too and I haven't attended any gatherings either as I only just picked my 125i up a fortnight ago. Looks like the numbers of 125 vs 135 will be getting closer on the next meet. Any photos of yours? Did you manage to pick it up used or did you get it new as the manuals are pretty thin on the ground.

Nathan, you'll be more than welcome to join in on the next drive day. There is a certain black 125i that has surprised a few 135i drivers on previous cruises, so you won't be left behind by any means.
And you're another former WRX driver. It'd be interesting to see how many 1'ers had previously owned a WRX (or currently still do).

Welcome to the club Nathan. I've only been on the most recent cruise but had a great day with great company. Everyone is welcome to come to the meets. I'll +1 that a certain black 125i with tinted tail lights has surprised a few of us 135i drivers

Warren has slyly debadged his rocketship. But we all know what it really is.

You can certainly tell you're in an Australian forum - thanks for the warm welcomes guys!
Glad to see some comrades with NA's! "wmj73", I've spied your modifications list! Some very tempting ideas !! Just as a sidenote, I have just received my BMW performance spoiler from "Oceanbreeze" BMW in England, they're selling a lot of BMW performance things on Ebay for very reasonable prices - a very satisfied customer, just thought I'd put the word out there |
