New 128i owner, bumper question & headlight washer

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a crimson red 2011 128i. I bought it as a fun / project car as it's from an insurance salvage auction.

It has the headlight washers like the car attached. I find that this type of bumper is much harder to find than the one without the washers. Would you recommend removing the mechanism completely in favor of a normal bumper?

FYI I was deciding between this and getting a gti, decided to go for the 128i, just a much more sophisticated car imo.

I'll be sure to have more questions down the road. Thank you!

It's somewhat rare to find a 128i with headlight washers. It's much easier to find a 135i bumper with headlight washers and they look better also. That would be the route I'd take. The mounting points are the same, but if it doesn't come with a grille, etc., yours won't swap.

I hope yours needs a bumper because it was an accident salvage and not a flood salvage. I can't imagine the gremlins living in a flood-salvaged modern BMW.

In my experience the washers are worthless and end up leaking at some point. I have coded them out on all my BMWs.

Ideal would be 135 bumper without washers.

They are rare? Cool.

It was it in the front, only reason I jumped at it was because the car had all of it's services done at the same dealership. Thank you for your reply.

I just swapped over 135i front and rear bumpers on my crimson red car and have good front and rear 128i bumpers stashed in my attic. If you were closer to Virginia I'd sell it to you.

My 135i bumpers had pop up washers. The 128i did not I used double sided tape to affix the covers to the bumper in the closed position.

The bumper swap is a piece of cake....easy!
