Misfire Issues with MHD Monitor function....
Hey guys,
I got my bone stock 2008 135i 6spd a couple weeks ago to replace my e46 m3. Car is currently at 68k miles. Building this to be the replacement track toy so I went ahead and ordered a handful of things the N54 needs off the bat (ER oil cooler, csf intercooler, csf radiator, bms charge pipe/bov, bms occ) and also grabbed a MHD wireless module as I was planning on going Stage 1+. Anyway, since I'm still waiting for a few parts, I wanted to start by getting MHD installed on the android headunit in the car and play with the monitor function of the MHD app. Just wanted to get the gauges setup since i've been curious what stock boost is, coolant temps before mods, etc. To my surprise, the car started misfiring (read dme codes off MHD app) and had some crazy hesitation/jerking when trying to drive it. Now I've read about once you flash a MHD tune, misfiring was common (I ordered new plugs with the other parts to prep for this), but I was not expecting to run into this with only having the wireless module in and running the data logger for fun. My question is... is this normal to run into misfire issues even just using monitoring function of the MHD app or am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Eric |

That is not normal. I had many issues when I bought my car and used mhd just to monitor and read and clear codes for several weeks before I used it to flash stg1. It ran no differently.

So after exchanging pm/emails with Momir at MHD... He thinks I have a piggyback/JB4 already in the car and is probably why I'm having this issue. I went out to the car real quick after googling how to access JB4 menu on the steering wheel...It showed i was on map 0 (JB4 disabled) and I was able to scroll through the speedo/tach menu like shown on the BMS website... Going to take everything off to access the DME box after this conference call to check for sure... There might be a JB4 for sale soon LOL

Well... I'll be damned. There was a JB4 installed in the car. I've uninstalled it and car turns back on so gonna try the MHD software again and should be good to go hopefully.
Thanks again for the help MHD! |
