Did he mention if BMW will actually be displaying the 135 in Montreal? If so, I might make the trip just so I can see it "in the flesh".

The website for the Montreal car show indicates that it will be the Canadian unveiling of the 1 series. Here is the web link:http://www.montrealautoshow.com/Main.asp?s=0&p=3

Most cars priced in the US for 34-35 end up being 48-49 Canadian. Like the STI, S2000, IS350 and so on. If this car comes in at just over 40, it will be a steal. You could'nt think of a better car for the money, I need this now!!!

Dealer told me it is estimated to be about $45K base price for 135i.

$45k is a high estimate given that a 328xi is $34k in the US and $43k here and considering they're offering cash rebates and better financing to discourage buyers from buying in the US.

I'd say $42k-$43k base price. Remember, a 335 is $49.9k, pricing the 135 only $4k under that wouldn't really "attract new buyers" as its supposed to. Until pricing is out the dealer's best guess holds no more weight than our own.

I agree with you RR.. my stupid dealer was guessing prices and on the deposit bill I got it shows like after a few options I am looking at $57k on the ground... I was going to tell the sales are you out of your mind?

My deposit bill shows it at $2200! As just registration, Freight & PDI. I'll try my best to hold them to that!

Is it true that BMW Canada is taking orders? I have a feeling I'm going to lose my spot even with putting a deposit in November. I have no fatih in BMW. I doubt my dealer even knows to call me when the 1 Series is available for ordering.

I placed my deposit at Durham. My friend is a tech there, so I got to go to the university to sit in a 135i with all the options. It's a great fit. Some of the staff were ripping around in the 1's. They fly. My sales person was really helpful although she didn't know much more than what we find here.

As I write this, there are two 128is sitting outside Durham in the back. Looks like there wasn't time to stow them inside on Friday but they will likely be hidden away on Monday. In person, the car looks quite small (not a bad thing) and the minimal legroom in the back is quite apparent. With the front seats fully back rear legroom goes to literally zero. Cars were locked of course so I can't say what this means in a normal driver's seat position.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the service at Durham.

Nice! What color blue is that? Can't be Monaco... Montego or Lemans?

Does anyone know if the turn signals on the front will always be orange? That's pretty ugly

If the US price on the cab came in at almost 40000 then I can't see the canadian price of the 135i base to be much more than that.

Alright guys... and girls... here's the unofficial scoop from me!

I just visited my Sales Rep at a BMW dealer in Vancouver. He's a senior Sales Rep and I'm pretty confident that he knows what he is talking about:

BMW 'IS' taking orders now for the 1 Series. A $2000 "Non-Refundable" deposit is required. There's no way out of that. This is not the deposit to get in line to order. This is the real deal. You order with the 2k deposit, and that's the car you get. Ordering around this time will get you a delivery in April. At this time, you will have to order without knowing the price. The freight and PDI is about $2190!

I'm assuming that the demographics who are in the market for the 1 Series are not the type that would place a 2k non-refundable deposit to order a car which they don't know the price of.. Unlike others who are in the market for M3's and M6's etc.

Since we're on this topic, how much would you guestimate the price for this will be?

Hi loun80,
Are you sure of the $2000 non refundable deposit? I only put $500 down and as far as I know, I can still get that back if I decide not to take the car when it arrives. I am on really good terms with my dealer but they even told me that if I don't want it, they have no problems selling it to someone else so they're not concerned with that.
