Plasti-dipped 128i

We finally got a nice day here in Vancouver, so i spent the majority of the day plasti-dipping my 128i.

for those of you who dont know what plasti-dip is, its basically a sprayable rubberized coating. Most people use it on their rims, in my case, my 128i had horrible roadrash all over the front of the car so for a fun solution i decided to dip the whole car..

IMO, I think it makes the car look like a primer-coated beater.

Sorry.

Sorry.
so you think a frozen grey M5 looks like a primered beater?

i like it, lucky you chose an easy colour to do! haha.. not having to worry lots about thickness.

funny that 8 cans can do a whole car, but it takes 4 to do 4 wheels :P

I do, actually... Not a fan of that gimmicky frozen paint finish.

i'll be honest, i'm not a huge fan of MOST of the frozen finishes (some are amazing)

but calling it a primered beater is harsh.

Looks good - nice way to preserve the paint below and if you get bored of your color you can change it up for a decent cost.

How long will this last? Can you use a power hose to wash it at the do it yourself car washes without it taking it off?

Whoa, just to be clear, I said it looks like a primered beater... I didn't say it was a primered beater...

Bottom line, it's just not cup o' tea.

IMO, car is coming along/on its way...

- needs new wheels sans rubber band tire specs
- a drop to get rid of gap / 4x4 status
- windows tinted
- new front bumper (personally not a fan of 128i front bumper)

But good job on the plastidip painting!

Nice job man! what was the original color of your car?

The 2012 front bumper for the 128i is much improved, sportier and more aggressive looking...
