Haven't commented in a while, but congrats! Absolutely awesome results. Cheered along with your girl on that last run after you finally got it to hook up haha, knew that was going to be close that 10 mark. Looking forward to you figuring all this out, so I don't have to once I retire mine from daily duties and turn it it into a track toy. YouTube channel is also coming along nicely. To be honest, all the content is way more organized than most YT channels I watch and more entertaining too. Keep up the good work!

I removed that clutch device and returned the lines back to stock and re-bled the system. Glad I got that thing out.

After running that 10 second pass in my 135i, I was really curious what it weighed. So, I found a local weigh station and put it on the scale. I even brought my stock BMW 335i to find out the difference in weight between the two.

135i weighed 3,300lbs without a driver.
335i weighed 3,600lbs without a driver.

As I continue to go down the rabbit hole of weight reduction/track-inspired modifications... bucket seats were next up on the list.

With a budget of $1,000 shipped for a pair of seats and hardware to mount them, I started my search. Ideally, that price would include sliders because other people drive my car and a fixed seat would be inconvenient. I didn’t want fancy, reclining seats because I'm doing this to save weight. I was tempted to go with a pair of cheap NRG seats from eBay, but decided against it. Buying the cheapest possible safety equipment doesn't seem like a good idea.

That's when I stumbled on Corbeau's website and found some attractive, affordable options. I narrowed it down to their FX1 Pro seats for $339 each and E92 (E8X/E9X) brackets with sliders for $119 each. Quality, name brand stuff totaling up to $916, just within my budget!

A few days later and I had a package waiting at home.







Out with the old...





Seat installed on bracket and buckle swapped over...







All done!





I will admit, these seats are pretty comfortable for being a race seat. If I were taking the car on a cross-country road trip, I’d prefer the stock seats… but when will I be taking this car on a cross-country road trip? I’m much happier that my body isn’t flopping around when I’m ripping around the track!

I ordered a pair of 8″ seatbelt extenders so I could snake the belt through the seat. This allows me to buckle up within the seat instead of over the top of the seat.

Surprisingly, the stock seats weigh a massive 59.6 lbs! For comparison, the FX1 Pro and bracket weigh 27.4 lbs. That’s a difference of 32.2 lbs, bringing the total weight loss to 64.4 lbs for the front seats. I’ll take it! I also previously removed the rear seats, which saved about 55 lbs.

Next up; a carbon fiber sunroof delete and carbon fiber door panels!

Oh wait... airbag lights...



I used the ProTool app by BimmerGeeks to get rid of these error codes. Simply connect an Android tablet to your car with a K+DCAN cable and OTG adapter, open up ProTools and go to work!

Under the “Safety” section > MRS – Airbag > Coding > Standard, we must deactivate the following options.
  • Seat Mat Sensor (OC3_1)
  • Driver Seat Position Sensor (SPSF_1_CD)
  • Left-Side Airbag (SIDEBAG_LINKS_1)
  • Passenger Seat Position Sensor (SPSBF_1)
  • Right-Side Airbag (SIDEBAG_RECHTS_1)

Does deactivating those options turn the airbags off, or just the sensors? I forgot to plug my seatbelt positioning sensor when I swapped in M3 seats and have had a couple of those codes for months now.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you. Someone with better coding knowledge probably knows. I just hope they still work as intended if I get into an accident!

Well, I went back to the drag strip the other day. Made a decent shakedown pass, well on my way to setting a personal best.



Then I snapped an axle. This is the 3rd stock axle that I've snapped.





I'm sick of throwing junkyard axles in it and driving like I'm on glass, so I decided it's time to give the car the parts it really needs.

Just got done watching that standing half mile vid again. I cannot believe how fast your car is. That thing is an absolute ROCKET SHIP. Haha. Amazing work man. That has to be a blast.

Does it feel pretty stable at those speeds?

Thanks! It doesn't feel super stable after 150mph, but I think it's because of the extremely light backend and the low pressure I run in the ET Street R tires. I could probably benefit from a proper set of coilovers. I'm comfortable with the car, but it sways a little bit.

If you haven't already noticed, YouTube and Instagram are where I post most of my content. If you aren't already subscribed/following there, you're missing out

That being said, I have exciting news I want to share! I took the car to the drag strip after doing a ton of modifications last year. Haven't really changed anything under the hood but removed a lot of weight from the car and upgraded everything under the car. LSD, DSS axles, M3 front/rear control arms, adjustable toe arms, all new bushings, etc. Also fit a set of slicks and skinnies.

First pass on 20psi ran an 11.29 @ 128mph with a 1.94 60ft.
Second pass on 25psi ran a 10.53 @ 137mph with a 1.73 60ft.
Third pass on 28psi ran a 10.36 @ 134mph with a 1.59 60ft.

I actually set a record on my 3rd pass with the 10.36 ET. Currently the fastest manual trans N5X BMW with stock chassis. Ghassan went 9.6 but he has a custom back-halfed chassis.

I think I can run 9's as I was misfiring during my 10.36 pass, watch the video

I've had a few people reach out to me asking to check back into 1Addicts... and I realized it's been way too long since I've updated this thread. So much has happened since my last update a year and a half ago.

I'm currently in talks with Billiam Mason (BMB Autowerks) about a built engine. The 135i engine is finally ticking/knocking internally after all of the 750+whp abuse. My goal is to get something that can handle 900whp and maaaaaybe throw a bigger turbo on it. He recommended a 6875 Gen 2.

It's been a little while, but I've got some updates...

The oil analysis results on the 135i engine came back, they said everything looked great. Clearly, it did not. Waste of $$$.

I bought a 335i from Florida for $3,500, sight unseen. Plan was to pull the motor from it, and use it in the 135i, then LS swap this cheap 335i. It came with tons of aftermarket parts but needed some work.



I wanted to get it driving and put it through its paces so I knew the motor was good. And in doing that, I realized it rips! The transmission doesn't hold the power in 5th or 6th gear, but I was pleasantly impressed up to 130mph+. After giving it a little TLC, it's almost too nice of a car to rip apart lol.



That's if this engine is still good after this beat run...
