100% stock N55 at the dyno!!!
This morning about 8 of us headed out to a dyno shop and decided to make it a dyno day. Here's the break down:
Temperature inside the shop: 104 F (hot FL day!) Mods: None. My car has the BMW performance suspension, but 100% stock otherwise. Below are the 3 pulls. I was rather surprised and I think it is obvious that these engines are underrated! Also, these are the "corrected" numbers. I was only given the "uncorrected" figures for the 1st run (which as you can see was not my best run) and the uncorrected numbers were 276whp and 282wtq. I'm not sure what the difference is but either way, the car put down more than expected See the "uncorrected" graph for the first run below. Last edited by 1SerieStud; 06-12-2011 at 06:07 PM.. |

Nice, good numbers. Slap a JB3 + Downpipe on that and you should hit 350/350 easy.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting that your dyno operator used two different gear. You definitely have to do some 100% stock pulls with your 1M!! I'd love to see some DynoJet figures of that car.
Just an FYI and speaking from personal experiences, with these DynoJets, sometimes it takes more than just 3 pulls for you to pull accurate numbers. What I recommend is that next time see if your dyno operator will let you keep doing pulls until you see your car start to drop in power. Again, thanks for sharing

Absolutely and thank you. I was puzzled as to why he used 3rd and 4th gear. Luckily as you can see they are not far from each other in terms of results.
We were 8 cars so I couldn't just keep my car on the roller, but I do not think the dynojet was giving much error...the only other n55 with bolt ons and a tube yielded some rather disappointing results. Either way, next time around I'll see if I can go for 4-6 pulls! Thanks for the advice, and as soon as I get my 1M broken in, it's going on the dyno! Quote:

If that's the case you better hurry up! These things are almost all spoken for. But just so you know, if you drive an e90 m3 I would think hard about swapping. There was an e92 m3 in the pack this morning and the sound of that thing had everybody drooling.
