n55 help 2D54 exh vanos cold start
I have a 2011 135 with the n55. I have fault code 2D54 variable camshaft timing control vanos exhaust, cold start not controlable.
I replaced the vanos solenoids, replaced both cam sprockets swapped the cam pos, still getting this code. I am not sure what else could cause this code. Anyone have similar issues or suggestions? Start car it’s smooth for a second then it idles down 600 rpm running rough, then it idles high 1500rpm smooth then levels out and idles smooth. Thanks |

I am wondering if maybe the tensioner is an issue maybe jumped time when started.
I turned over by hand and the cam sprocket tool lined up on tdc, both cams had QR code up, wouldn’t that mean timing is correct? |

Did you check VANOS oil supply? Ensure that the VANOS system is receiving adequate oil supply. Insufficient oil pressure or blockages in the oil passages can affect the VANOS operation. Check for any clogs, debris, or restrictions in the oil lines.

I took everything apart and found that the cam sprocket was packaged wrong. FCP sent me two intake gears. The part number on the boxes were correct for the exhaust and intake, but the exhaust box was actually a intake sprocket. It was really difficult to read numbers on the parts but they were same. I hope this didn’t cause any damage and hopefully after installing correct exhaust cam sprocket vanos everything will be good.
