nope looks quite good to me with the limited pics.

on the M3, the side marker is right in the middle of the vent hole. having the side marker where it is now gives you that same style. but instead of using a M3 style vent, they have a crease and elongated the bottom part to flow right into the lower potbelly crease on the bottom of the door. so its very M3ish above the side marker, and very different below it. the potbelly necessitated a vertical crease or vent (if it was an actual vent). the potbelly existed because it was a curved line that ran from wheel to wheel. now with the crease it looks like a line that flows from the vertical crease, down and up to the rear fender bulge. it makes lemons into very tasty lemonade

There are no "competition" brakes. The brakes are the same on all M3 models since 2008.

And they suck for even light track work... BMW's biggest flaw.

R&T says the 1M is 7 seconds slower on the Nordschleife than the M3. That ain't so bad.

On the M3 the crease/vent hole is much smaller so it balances out since the side marker is in the middle. Not so on the 1M in my opinion. I have no problem with the crease at the bottom to make the potbelly less noticeable, but the top crease line with that gap there between the side marker makes it look weird to me. I think it would look better if the crease line on top was cut off sooner and aligned with the side marker. Also, make the side marker slightly shorter too.

They haven't actually driven it around the ring, I'm pretty sure that's just speculation. There's almost no doubt in my mind that the 1 M will be quicker than the M3.

then it'd look like a GT-R. the way it is now is unique and is reminiscent of the M3. win-win if you ask me. the main point which i think most of us can agree is that by making it vertical and connecting it to the curved side crease, it makes the potbelly unnoticeable and somewhat even cool looking

I stand corrected.

But they are still vastly superior to the brakes on the 135i!

Yes, it sharpens up the throttle response.

So why not have a sharp throttle response all the time and not bother with the button?

Is it just a gimmick or are there benefits for being able to choose?

Yeah or something like what jag cars have done or on the Panamera. Not unique but it's more integrated and tidy I reckon. Not sure how it can remind me of the M3 side with what's on the car now but it is different for sure. Overall the car looks great on the outside though, it's just that little part bugs me.

Indeed, front looks pretty wide, and looks like car needs a drop up front by another inch. Nothing an aftermarket suspension can't handle.

BTW, what are the widest tires that people have been able to fit on these wheels?

Not bad. I don't need it though.

I do like the headlights a bit more than I thought I would.

Everyone may not want a touchy throttle when driving around in traffic. I believe it also adjusts the steering sensitivity.
