2012 135i Front end hopping constant body movement
I just did the koni yellow and swift r spring replacement on my 135 as suggested by many people on here. I can say that the ride is much better than the factory suspension. More grip in corners and the car feels more planted a high speeds.
I thought however it was going to solve an ongoing issue that I have where the front end of the car bounces over every single imperfection on the road. I was sure that I had a weak spring but that's not the case that they have all been replaced. I have done visual inspection of the frond end and nothing which looks out of place. Alignment was done by the dealership today and tires are only 6 months old. As I have not driven another 135i for comparison I am not sure if this is the way the car is or if there is a problem. Seems like there is constant movement in the body in the front. The Koni shocks have been left at their factory settings for dampening. Am I going crazy or do I have an issue here that I need to look at? |

I had a similar problem after fitting koni yellow. The guy doing the install had (unintentionally) turned the adjustment knob to maximum-hard setting during the installation. It made the front end feel harsh to the point of feeling like it was bouncing. After I backed off the damping, it car rode nicely. Around 1.5 turns from full soft is a fairly typical setting for the front.

How are your sway bar end links looking? Maybe one is broken ?
I would start with adjusting the shocks first. Is the suspension making any noises when this "movement" occurs ? Perhaps one of your wheels is bent ? Dack

Play around with shock settings and see if it makes a difference. Getting the 1M strut tower braces will make this a LOT easier.

The car has has new tires recently and it doesn't shake at highway speeds so wheels should be good. 🤞 |

Adjusted the fronts 1.5 turns and the problem is still there. Feels like it's coming from the drivers side mostly. I'll take a look at the sway bar links next weekend.

Have not had a chance to look at it but i suspect I need to replace ball joints, a control arm or the tie rod on the drivers side. I went for a trip recently and the car was vibrating under breaking at highway speeds. I doubt it's a rotor given how thick these ones are. I should have time next week to investigate. Maybe it's time for the infamous m3 parts swap. Lol.
