No regrets here. I think, whether due to glare or whatever, both the 6500K and 5000K look like a close match when looking straight on, as you can see in pictures. However, when you look at them from a 45* (roughly) angle, the 6500K look almost sky blue. The 5000K looks white. I notice this same color difference when looking at the reflection from the car in front of me--the 6500K clearly has bluer rings than brow and the 5000K looks like a perfect match to the brow.

If I really get picky, I think the 5000K is a shade on the yellower side compared to the eyebrows. Barely. It does not help that the eyebrows seem to have just a touch of purple in them, which the LUX 5000K does not have. The brows are clearly not 8500K+, so I don't know where that hint of purple comes from.

Bottom line, the 5000K matches the brow pretty well under close scrutiny and the 6500K is instantly recognizable as different.

Couldn't agree with you more! Would you say that the 6500k's look more like the LED's in the 3 and the 5000k's look more like the LED's in the 5?

I've had the Alpine's prior, and even if for a moment I forget about the multiple issues I had with them, and assuming they both fired up, I still prefer the Lux over the Alpines.

it's funny i've actually never had problems with my alpines. they've been starting up fine and look great for the past year. it's just that the lux gives a more refined look and less of that aftermarket "im trying to blind you" kind of light during night time lol

I guess Alex figured out all the bugs, explains why there is a V3

Yeah, the center halo acting like high beams was one of my big complaints with that setup, oncoming traffic was often bothered and let me know about it!

quick question... where did everyone place the ballast for the LUX AE's? Also what's the best method to ensure that you do not get condensation in the headlight? I've gone through 2 headlights under warranty so far both happen to be on the passenger side... most recently the install was done by BMW... unsure whether or not I want to chance a third time however my SA did advise me that the most recent incident was due to a collapsed seal?

Here is what most of us have done:

No issue with condensation. Just make sure the caps are tightly in place, you may get a few nicks and skin scrapes as it is tight in there.

that's where I was thinking the best place would be as well... is there anyway to avoid a collapsed seal? i know for the cover it's the 2 bottom teeth in first and then the rest is easy...

I can't see how a seal can 'collapse' unless the cap was installed in a way that it caught a seal/gasket and exposed an opening.

There have been dozens of folks (in fact hundreds) that have done this, not heard of anyone complain of condensation or water entrapment. Just take your time putting back the caps, you'll be fine.

yeah i'm not sure what the hell is going on... first time i had a fellow 1addicts member install the LUX AE's(6500k) for me and somehow moisture got into the headlight and fried everything! the dealer replaced it under warranty... didn't want to chance it again with the 5000k set so i had the dealer install them for me and sure enough moisture somehow got into the headlight and fried everything again which the dealer is now replacing under warranty again!... the weird thing is that both times it's been the passenger side... the dealer won't install the LUX AE's again and have basically told me that if i want to reinstall them afterwards it's at my own risk and if anything happens again they won't warranty it...

FINALLY got my car back today! decided to not have the dealership install the LUX AE's and do it myself since they weren't able to do it correctly... I double checked and even triple checked to make sure the covers were replaced correctly so fingers crossed that I do NOT have anymore condensation issues! couldn't do a side by side comparison of the 5000k vs 6500k as there was too much glare however I took a pic of each at an angle... after looking at both couldn't be happier w/the 5000k - they're a PERFECT match! first pic - 5000k second - 6000k

We will not have more of the 5000k version for a few months. We will be posting more information once it is available.
