Please read updates. Car did end up reading the half quart of oil I added, ended up just below max. Not overfilled! Thanks for everything
I read the updates. The reason I posted that is in case it reads 1/2 qt low next month or week. Good luck & hope all is good now.

My car has been showing all sort of different levels.
Changed the oil, showed FULL.

1000 km later, showed 80% of the level bar.
500 km later, showed 20% of the level bar (approaching "add 1 quart" threshold).
500 km later, showed 80% again.
100 km later, 50%
100 km later, 80%

And from this point on I realized that it would show me anything from 20% to 80% on the same day, depending on when I read it (and after shutting the car off and on).

I have strong reasons to believe my sensor is faulty, so I did not add anything.
How hard is it to replace the sensor? Is there any DIY on it?

Thanks!

OBC indicated 30,000 kms for oil change.

Yet the Castrol Edge 5w-40 recommend 24,000 kms

Rule of thumb, if the car is daily driven, 10,000-15,000km is fine. If you track, change it earlier. I changed my oil at 50,000kms and some change, i did 6K of track days and now i am on 60,000km and change. Wednesday the oil, oil filter and cabin filter will be changed.

Despite what the marketing hype says, i have seen oil on track only street legal N52s that got changed at 5,000kms. That oil looked like it has been in there for 20,000 kms, that is the result when you push the engine to redline in nearly all gears constantly all day long several times a year.

Anyways, 10,000kms since my last change and 0 consumption.

If i am not mistaken, i saw a sensor on the pan itself when the undertray was removed, that could be it. If it is, maybe a good idea to replace it if it is not priced too high.

I found it: Sensor 12617607910
Sensor O-Ring 12611744292
Sensor Bolt 07119905544

Sensor is rated for me at €172,63 at the dealership.
