For those of you surrounding NC

I've come to appreciate this little 128 'vert for the fun car it is, automatic and all. My evenings are spent looking for a nice replacement 128. Don't get me wrong, I like the car, not just the choice I made when I bought this car on a whim.

I have searches saved on Cars.com, but I've not found what I want. I will have to trade the current car since it has a lien on it, so I'll have to go to a dealer. That said, if you guys can put me on a nice example of a 128 e88, I'd appreciate the help. Not interested in a 135. That said, I'm looking for....

> under 50k miles if possible
> convertible
> autotragic
> would prefer mineral over red, but a nice blue over dove would work as well. Not interested in white or black. Current 128 is black.

These options are a "must have"
> M-sport
> aluminum trim
> iDrive
EDIT:
> Must be a '12 or '13 refreshed model

I missed a nice 128 a few months ago, timing didn't work out for me to look at the car and by the time I was free, the car was gone. Lesson learned, make time if you see the right car...

Would prefer some work history on the car, but if it looks taken care of, I'll just get a PPI and call it good.

If you happen across something nice, please shoot me a link or a dealer name and location. BTW, my current 128 is for sale if you're interested

Good luck, it took me a while to find this one, which doesn't have some of your "must haves".

Funny thing, I live in MD and bought both of my 1ers in NC. One near the coast and the other near Raleigh. It took a while to find them both, you have to be patient with the 1ers since they're fairly rare.

After looking at your message again I do have a couple thoughts for you regarding your "must-haves"...

> M-sport - Not a super likely find for a 128 vert, I've actually never even seen one
> aluminum trim - don't limit your search based on trim, you can just replace it later if you're that driven to have silver trim

That said, I found this in SC, looks pretty nice and low mileage!

EDIT: Also found this one, I'd recommend not limiting your search on "auto trans" since listing agents are ****ing clueless. This is listed as manual but you can clearly see its auto:

You might want to expand your wish list to include 128s with the sport package. I has the revised suspension and seats but not the M badging. At least that was the way it was in 2009 when I ordered mine (which has a proper transmission).

Thanks for the links, appreciate! I've come across both of those cars while I've been searching and while nice, not what I'm looking for. As for your statement of the M-sport package, they do exist. I've found 2 and didn't act quick enough to get one.

As for the silver trim, yeah, I can replace that, but that's just another expense. Guess I'll keep looking for my unicorn...

If you're worried about balancing expenses you're still not quite on target, especially since you're going to a stealership. Best case you find the perfect car, you're still buying another car, which means taxes etc. on a $20k-ish car. $1,200ish not including other fees/registration etc.. You could easily put less than that into getting the things you want out of your current 1er. Just my .02

Trust me I'm all about buying and selling, I've had 13 cars in the last 10 years lol. I just think you might be looking everywhere but under your nose with this One!

Can I ask why no 135i? Seems strange to avoid a 135i as they're so close (128i w/M-sport vs 135i) except for the turbo engine - can't ever have enough power I had a BMW 325is back some years and liked everything about it "except" not enough power. Love my 135i E88!

Just curious...

Since I tend to all of my own maintenance, I just don't to deal with the turbos and the DTC tranny. Agreed, that would open up options, but just not the path I want to go down.

There a few things that aren't a simple swap, the iDrive being one of them. I'm still on the fence about autox'g this car as well. With the M-sport, slightly better suspension bits and it wouldn't throw me out of D Street class. Changing certain items on the car would put me in another class.

Agree, what I have is nice and I'm not opposed to keeping it, but I'll continue to keep an eye out for the right car to keep long term.
